So, i installed the 7970M Yesterday and today, whilst playing Skyrim on ultra, the laptop froze and the screen went black.

I did a hard shut down and rebooted, the screen stayed black but the computer whirred away. No sound.

    Powered down again.

Upon rebooting the 2 nd time, the computer started normal until log in where the screen blacked out again.

Hard shut down again. Rebooted later on and all was well. Monitored temps in HWinfo, they where around 50C. When i moved the laptop to elevate to allow more ventilation, it black screened again leading me to believe the screen may be dead, or a loose connection.

    Any help?

Ok, so it rebooted fine, all was running. As a test, i closed the lid and opened it and bang, the screen goes black.

What the hell? Is there something i could have done whilst installing the 7970m that wold have caused this or is it a coincidence?

Hmmm, almost defineatly the screen. Running on an external. Rubn 3d mark 11, temps are fine. Card seems ok.

Cant jus be a coincidence that a day after i install the 7970m, the screen dies, can it?

I would re-format the hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch. Just to eliminate software/driver issues.

Sooo, i re-installed the drivers. Problem seems to have vanished, for now.

strangely, drivers are installed but there is no CCC.

Whenever i try to launch it i get the error message: could not load file assembly 'CLI.implementation' or one of its dependancies. The system could not find the specified file.
