Check BIOS as well. There is an option to disable battery charging in there.

    Sorry man :(

Call Dell and see if they can send a new battery and/or power supply.

Run the charge down a bit to the mid teens % and then plug it in. See if it recharges then.

Oh geez that sucks. Mine would sometimes do plugged in no charging while it was charged and wouldn't start charging until it was to like 18% which I heard happened to a lot of people. Sorry to hear about your worse issue :(

I have also had that problem (plugged in , not charging), and simply unlatching the battery, locking it back and then checking the charge (blue light level), works every time. When I plug back in, starts charging as normal. fn/f2 didn't work for me. You shouldn't have to do that everytime in my opinion, but it does work. My battery life sux anyway, usually leave plugged in.

I have this exact problem as well. Getting max 30 fps while plugged in. I've tested everything I can think of, and believe the power supply to be faulty and downclocking everything during game play. Dell said they shipped a new battery and charger but I never received one. I hope to have another one this week. I feel you pain though and hope we both find our problems soon.

This is not a hardware issue. It is happening to all brands of laptops. I have the same problem and went through each piece of hardware and did extensive research. The only logical conclusion is that it's a Windows problem. Microsoft has falsely been claiming it's a hardware problem so it can escape having to resolve such a widespread issue. My laptop charges fine when the computer is off or hibernating. The problem only begins when the OS is running. Hence, it's a Windows problem. Don't let those snakes at Microsoft tell you anything different.

I updated my bios and that didn't fix it either. We need to get on Microsoft's care so they fix this issue.

That looks like the one I have. Called Dell today about not receiving my battery and charger, supposed to be here sometime today. Don't know how it takes almost two weeks to ship something.
First I've heard of this. If I do need a replacement, I will likely be spending the extra and going with the 580m/3D/120 HZ. Might as well go all out at this point, right? :D

I just received another charger and battery today. It is completely different, much slimmer and the blue light is at the end of the power cord where it plugs into the laptop instead of on the power box.

Battery is charging great now, all issues solved with a charger replacement.

Not that I noticed. Gaming is still screwy, 30 FPS in black ops at 800x600 (for testing purposes). I hope you get what you need, this is a very silly mistake on Dell's on. Don't know how you send the wrong charger with the laptop.

I'm returning today and upgrading to the 2720,580m, 120 hz/3D, wireless HD, blu ray, 4gb ram (upgrade myself), 320gb 7200 and 3 year warranty. They have a 15% off special right now on all orders over 2399 if ordered by 8/4/11!!!

    Grand total of 2870
