Hi everyone - been reading the forum for a bit and this will unfortunately be my first time posting.

Tonight, I got all the materials together, told the girl that I was busy for a few hours and sat down to do the retention clip mod and to re-paste / thermal pad switch.

While im not an expert to this kind of thing...im not a novice either....With that being said I wanted to see if there was any suggestions to my problem.

Short story is that after (successfully?) completing the mod, I anxiously reassembled my rig and pushed the alienpower button to see.... nothing! No activity, no HDD activity, no monitor - nada! I assumed I didnt connect the alien sensor properly (meaning power button is not working) so I triple checked the connections are aligned up and still got nothing.

    Anyone have any suggestions??

As far as my mod process...a couple details:

I initially had trouble getting into my system. I couldnt get the sensor bar to pop up despite watching videos and seeing screenshots. Eventually I did get it to pop up with a very very small/thin screwdriver but im worried if I may have damaged anything on the underside of the sensor bar when trying to pry it open...

I used the 2 part arctic product to remove old paste and prep for new paste...The 1rst part of the product did drip down into the PCB board but I cleaned where necessary and didnt think much of it.

When I did the retention clip mod, I was gentle and did not notice or hear anything wrong when tightening the screws....but the problem im having should have nothing to do with the GPU...right? I mean...im not even getting the thing to power on..

I spent about 4 hours in total and decided I needed a break before I look into it again...i'll tackle the machine again in the morning and disassemble it to see if I missed any connections...

    Any ideas? Thanks for reading

My guess is it's the power button panel.

Seen few techs come for repairs and my system end up with no power.

    Good luck

Check both ends of the ribbon cable (to the power panel and from the mother board) to make sure that it's fitted properly.

it's got to be the Ribbon cables man!!
    They are a bit tricky.
How fun of a time did you have getting the clips off??

It won't power on if the keyboard ribbon is not fastened properly. Check that and the other cables as people have mentioned.

First off thank you all for your suggestions...its a great feeling having so many people that someone can turn to for support or suggestions!

Was the winner! I did try the sensor cable on both sides....the keyboard cable... nada.

It was the stupid touchpad cable the whole time!! Arrgggg... thank you all so much!!

As far as the results...I just ran a 10 minute FurMark and im amazed! Overall I see a 20-30c drop in GPU temps!!

Time to continue testing...per Handsomerob's guide, I also used the TX4 paste - should I expect better performance as it settles in?

Handsomerob: Those clips were a PITA!! Towards the end, I started getting pretty efficient at it but man, I got nervous when I did the second one and I couldnt find the washer! Luckily it was nearby but it took a bit to find lol.
