All,
I see there is a lot of data on this subject, however I am not seeing too many direct references to what I am experiencing or solutions.
Out of the box, my laptop was working fine outside of one minor issue, which I couldn't explain (CPUs would randomly be utilized heavily once a week or so).
I formatted it in order to fix the issue, with a fresh Vista-64.
Now I am experiencing terrible GPU performance which has never existed. I have Hybrid graphics enabled, and I have downloaded the latest graphics.
What I could once run at a solid 35-40 fps consistently is now 10 fps. Help!

not that i know what the problem is, but you should include specs when writing a "help me" thread, have you instaled the right gpu drivers(might fix it)

I have no Alienware programs installed at this time.
Specs are: Q6600, 4GB RAM, GTX 260M (just one) the alternate video card is the 9400M
Thanks for the swift replies!!!! -
Disable hybrid graphics.
-
Did you start the pc on battery power ? If so it turns on internal gfx.
Check your BIOS and turn off internal gfx.
Hope it helps.

Yep - be sure Integrated Graphics and HybridSLI are both enabled or both disabled. Don't mix them up.
-
Yep, looks like you're running on 9400. It's best to keep it disabled in BIOS and when needed just boot without the power cord to auto-enable it.

I am not running the 9400, I run dxdiag to check to see what card is enabled to be sure.
The 260 is on, and it isnt booted without the plug.
I have them BOTH ENABLED in the bios - what is the best practice for performance?
again - i appreciate the tidy responses from everyone! -
Both enabled means worst stability and performance. Disable both and you should run on 260 only, for best results.
