Hi everyone, here to share my story and try to get a little advice. I have an M17x R2 under warranty. It keeps dying, Dell keeps replacing parts, but it still dies. Here's the progression path:

    1) System would give intermittent errors and wouldn't boot. I'd get occasional blue screens and the graphics would be all fuzzy. Finally the system went completely bricked so I called in for support. They sent their tech out and replaced the mobo, graphics card, and maybe the CPU (dunno, he never told me)

    2) It still didn't fix the problems. Not even the next day I couldn't get the computer to boot, so after I called it in, they said that my only option is to send back to the depot for repair. Now I never wanted this option as there's a reason why I paid extra for the in-home service warranty. But alas, if that was the only way, I sent it in.

    3) It came back from the depot (I have no idea what they replaced as the tech couldn't tell from the records and there was no paperwork), it was working fine for a couple of weeks. But now it's dead again. Bricked. Won't even turn on.

I've called Dell again, but they're now just transferring me from this dept to that dept, etc. and I can't get anyone to help me really fix my machine or give me a system replacement.

Any advice or suggestions? I know some Dell Customer Reps often participate on these forums? Is that an appropriate avenue? I'm desperate here. It's my main laptop and I've taken 2 days off work now to replace and fix this thing...

    Help and thanks in advance!

Never ever ship it out to the depot unless you have Complete Care and accidental damage (you have to, according to Dell's terms for assessment), especially when you have in home service. Call Dell again and have them send a tech. You will only be considered for a replacement unit if you have 3-4 repairs.

call them again for service. i believe it goes, if the product has failed again after third attempted repair for the same issue, it should be up for an exchange.

Try and get in touch with one of the Alienware Reps here in the forum. I know there is a difference between Dell support (India) and Alienware Support (Latin America). Alienware Reps here have been very helpful with me so give them a shot. Here is one: http://forum.notebookreview.com/member.php?u=508900
