I have cut the green wire (ID wire) with my M18x PSU (330W) but now my GPUs never reach 3D clocks - it works fine with the 240W PSU but I'm lacking of power due to the 940XM requiring over 80W to sustain 3,5ghz.
The PSU is definitely fine, but for some reasons refuse to work correctly in my m17xr2...

    Any ideas guys ?

    Thanks!

I guess you mean that the problem is the combined score too low, that's may be due to some power throttling cause the 2x7970m and XM cpu. Wich PSU are you using?

Besides, the picture is too small

Your R2 is power hungry then. Dual 240W PSU setup or 330W modded PSU should be your solution

Sorry for re-bumping this thread, but I'm really curious. Riri, did you solve the problem with the 330W PSU?

I have noticed sometimes games will boot in 2D clocks for me as well since overvolting my 7970m. I would say it is the extra load but that doesnt explain why it does it randomly and not all the time

I did the 240W identifier chip mod on a 330W PSU and my M17X R2 will still consistently crash whenever both cards (7970Ms) are being fully utilized with the 940XM installed (i.e. Skyrim can utilize Crossfire, but would run at 60 FPS on one card; Crysis 2 runs at 45 FPS on one card, goes up to 60 FPS with two, but the laptop shuts off within a minute of starting the game). Even undervolting and turning off Turbo on the i7 don't save enough power to let both run simultaneously under load.
