I was thinking of what mod I could do...I considered memory but didn't see much reviews on diff between 4gb and 8gb

I am thinking a SSD would help speed things up. I was considering a 128gb to load on my OS and maybe a game or two that I play a lot then my other games n stuff on the 500gb spare drive.

Couple questions, what is the things to look for on these drives? Do I need a 1.8 inch or a 2.5?

    Are they hard to install?

Is this one below a good drive, I was thinking about ordering it so it would arrive shortly after my laptop.

it's most definately going to be 2.5" SSD. they are simple to install, just four screws and pull it out, another 4 screws, replace and put eveything back in.

cant really advice you on what SSD to get, but a midrange/decent one will do. there's not much point going for an extremely expensive one.

8GB RAM is nice to have, but it will also increase your loading time in some instance.

In a similar boat to you and was recomended a OCZ Vertez 2 SSD 120GB. All you will need is the second HDD caddy and interposer, which shouldn't be a problem as you have a R2. If not, just ring dell and they will send you parts required.

They are required if you wish to (as per your opening post) to have the OS + a few games on the new SSD in addition to 500GB for your other stuff then like I said you will need a second caddy and interposer.

To check, remove the battery and the cover above it which is held on by two screw. You will now see your current HDD on the right hand side (with the battery compartment closest to you). The second HDD bay is on the top left hand side and should have the caddy and interposer within some foam (not totally sure on this bit as I only have an R1).

You will need to put the SSD into the RH bay and the 500GB drive in the LH bay for it to work.

So my laptop may have this stuff in there, would just need to swap the drives otherwise I'd have to buy this?
