Ok, i have purchased an AW 17 that has been shipped. It's a fairly good spec but the GPU is only a 765M, must be the only available GPU for the 120hz screen i opted for.

I got my hands on a nice Dell 780M card waiting for me to slot in once my AW arrives. My problem is the dam heatsink. Is the part number YP26V? I tried a search on Ebay and a lot of 3 pipe heatsinks come up listed for M17x R3/4's etc etc and all with different part numbers, the confusion! lol

I haven't tried Dell yet because i'm not 100% sure of the part number and they'll probably say " Not in stock" anyway...

Does anyone know where the best place to get one, or does anyone on here have a spare one they would sell? :)

Hi, I wouldn't worry too much if you can't get the original part. If you managed to get the x-bracket with the 780m you will very probably find the original will work just fine. Of course monitor temps but you're not going to destroy it.

I am getting concerned with the AW17 range now being offered. The 120hz display is not mentioned anywhere and I saw a post where someone was told by dell that the 120hz LCD cable (he had purchased a 120hz display) was 'discontinued'! Discontinue a part of a current model?

Shame is that the 120hz display got far better feedback than the anti-glare 60hz panels.

I hope this is not a backlash to user perception that 3D is a gimmick and the networks are dropping it. The difference between a true 60hz to each eye and the frankly rubbish, 3D TV standard which halves the vertical resolution and then delivers it at 24hz is a world apart. Obviously I love it and find it very immersive :D. And there are plenty of people that just want the faster refresh.

Looks like you got in right at the end, the 120hz model originally only came with a 780m whenever I looked - but different countries seem to have their own offerings?

Good luck with your search ;)

Yeah they still have the 120hz as an option here in Ireland. Only with an old 765M

    second page..

I'm guessing the heatsink from the older R3/R4 won't fit?

Hmm they seem to have dropped the price of the system i ordered by nearly 200 euro and added a 4910 processor up to 4.1ghz, must be a new processor?

Had a look, interesting if a little weird. They do not mention the 3D anywhere other than in the display model type :(.

Nah you won't be able to use an R3/R4, it's all about the case design. Have you tried dell? Ask them about a 780m upgrade then just get the heatsink since they sell them both as part of the dell upgrade. One for mine is around £25 and comes pre-padded and pasted.

    Don't know about the CPU.
