Hello I am a little confused on how to configure the machine on my signature on RAID 0. I have heard I would need to do a clean OS install, but I've also read about another way of doing it with the help of Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
I tried using that but I have no idea what I'm doing
My two HD are the same specs but different manufacturers by the way!

Could someone please shed some light in the matter?

At what point does the Intel program take over the whole job? After I switch to RAID 0 on my bios?
Because so far I've been using both drives in my laptop independently........
I just want to make sure I wont have to do a whole OS installation cause I've already spent too much time configuring my computer just right, and I have a ton of games installed too.......... :(

The current SATA configuration on my BIOS is AHCI....

Thanks for all your help! Rep+! :)

????? are you guys talking about using software raid over hardware raid? DONT DO IT.....setup raid in the bios, setup raid disks and do a clean install...its the only way.

If you are in AHCI switch to RAID and see if it boots, you may get a BSOD in which case you WILL need to reinstall unfortunately.

OK so my next question is, will I benefit greatly from going with RAID 0? Is it worth the hassle of reinstalling all my data again? Im calculation its going to be at least 5 hours of labor :(
And lastly if the answer is yes, could someone please break it down barney style how to get it done in simple steps? I'm a little worried I might screw things up........

Hi sorry to bump this thread but I couldn't find any answer in the FAQ, I would like to know if raid 0 is possible with the default HDD (320G 7200 RPM) + a 750G 7200 RPM HDD? same brand as well (seagate).

if so, how would I go about setting one up, thanks in advance!

edit: reading the wiki, looks like i would end up with 2*min(350, 750) = 700GB if I use raid 0? too much waste of HDD ekk
