    hi guys,
First of all, I absolutely love my new laptop. No BSODs and runs very cool. My only concern is low FPS in games.
Why am I getting only 30fps in NFS hot pursuit on high settings. Is it normal? Even in a game like FIFA 2011 i'm getting only 60fps. I'm running them on discrete graphics and it is running cool.
    Thanks

You probably have V-Sync on in the games, which means that your framerates are being limited to 30/60 FPS. Not a big deal.

Too bad, we lost today. I was at Anfield..dissappointed.

Coming to the topic, I tried it yesteraday but no change. Even the game "Blur" is getting only 65fps on high settings. Btw do u play FIFA?

After disabling the "ATI micro stuttering" option in the FIFA game, I'm able to get 125fps. But, 30fps and 60fps in NFS and Blur respectively is not good enough for this card. Isn't it?

What kind of FPS are you looking for? Shouldn't we only be going up to 60fps and be satisfied?

I know 60fps is good enough to play. Don't get me wrong but I want to see the full power of this GPU. Surely, 60FPS is not its best. Any tweaking to do in ATI CCC?

Ya, I think you should force VSync off from ATI CCC and you'll see a rise in FPS like I said in the earlier post mate...

VSync is in OFF mode. I should have said that it is not exactly 60, varies from 60-66fps in Blur and 30-40FPS in Hot-pursuit

Well, some games just aren't optimized as well as others.

A classic example of this is with SimCity 4. 8-year old game and the frame rates are terrible even with today's computers. A game with no multi-core support and a crappy graphics engine will make any video card feel slow.

I had to reinstall the 6970m driver because I got stuck in IntelHD mode and the computer kept freezing.

I was playing Brink lag-choppy-stutter free but after installing the new driver brink is like unplayable online!

Anyone got an idea why this could happen? Is there something different about the stock driver that comes with the system compared to the one I downloaded from the dell site?

I wish I had such problems. What resolution you have? If you use AA16x (or even 4X sometimes) you will not get higher FPS than you have.

I'm playing in 1080p. I left it default in the ATI CCC("use application settings" for AA is checked)
