    Howdy guys.

I have about 1800 bucks to spend and considering upgrading my M17X R2 or possibly picking up an m11x/m15x for something more portable since my 17 is a brick.

My current specs are 5870s in xfire. I7-720Q, 8 gigs of hyperX ram, 128gig ssd in C drive, 500 gig 7200 rpm hdd in D, RGB screen.

I know that the processor upgrade would be big, but I am a fail techie and would do more harm than good trying to do it myself. Still, should I look to find one somewhere for a good price and have it installed, or should I just be happy with this rig, and pick up a smaller 2nd unit for carrying around. I have to spend this cash before my wife finds it lol. Thanks.

You could give it to me :D
    seriously i'd take it :p

Honestly upgrading to a 920 (very reasonably priced on ebay right now) would be about all you need to do, unless you want a bigger SSD.

Heck upgrading the CPU, putting in a larger SSD and buying a M11x should all be possible with 1800 or close to it.

Or you could take the money and put it into savings. That 1800, in even a 3% yeild situation, will turn into 4300ish in 30 years, 2500 profit for doing absolutely nothing ;)

Haha, awesome suggestions. Thanks. If I purchase the processor from Ebay, should I look for a local tech to install it? I will blow something up if I attempt to do it myself. Also, I think I found the 920 on ebay (not 100% sure this is the right one), do I need a different heat sink etc, or will the current one I have work just fine? Thanks again fellas. As for diapers, I have one in diapers currently too, so I know the pain haha.

You'll have to use the current heatsink for the CPU unless you're up for some modding(void warrenty :p).
