So... you mean you cannot install it right? you are using SLi GTX 260s you will need a modified inf file or revert to older supported drivers.

Yeah you require modded infs for your laptop
they basically add your graphics card to list of compatible cards in these latest drivers

i suppose any thing older than 4xxM cards are not supported by these latest dricers

you can find your modded infs at

In order to use the new 320.49 drivers for the M17x R1, you have to mod your INFs like the above post said. With that being said, download the new driver from NVIDIA.com and run the .exe. It will of course fail so let it do it's thing. Once the installation fails, navigate to the following folder: C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\320.49\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver and copy and replace the two files that I've attached into that folder. Then navigate back one folder and then run the setup.exe. The installation should work now.

    Side note

If running Windows 8, make sure you go turn off driver signature enforcement or the installation will not work.
    To do this:
    1. On your desktop, navigate to any of the right corners and select settings.
    2. Click Change PC settings.
    3. Click General
    4. Scroll down to Advanced startup and select restart now.
    5. Once restarted select, Troubleshoot/Advanced Options/Windows Startup settings
    6. Select option Disable driver signature enforcement once computer is restarted.

Now, once your back into your desktop, just follow the above instructions and you should be up and running in no time!

I registered just so I could download the fix and say thank you to you CCaldwell2. Hopefully my games will stop crashing now. It's so sad that Dell messed up so bad with the drivers and won't allow Nvidia to install properly. Thanks again.

The 680m is not validated for the M17x r1, that's why you need to find some other ways around it.

Anyway, glad it worked out! :D

Yeah that would be nice to get an update for as I am having the same issue.

One would think that nvidia along with dell would get a handle on this as the whole point of a gaming laptop is performance and outdated drivers for a video card aren't exactly cutting edge performance.

You are able to upgrade it, yes. xD Officially supported by the DELL warranty, no.

@llelitell, same as stated above, you need to modify the installation file for them to work. We usually release driver updates to fix specific issues. They are not usually updated until we manage to work a driver along with nVidia and have it validated.
