Quick history, bought the m17x for my girlfriend back in 2010 and from the first week of owning it we had nothing but trouble with it. Dell support as usual was not very supporting so we pretty much boxed it up and vowed never to do business with Dell.
I just can't get over spending $2500 on a laptop and it not working so I'm trying to get it up and running for D3. When I bought it only Vista was available with the free upgrade to Windows 7. I reformatted and loaded up windows 7, updated pretty much everything from Dells support site but my discreet graphics are not working.
It's not the usual "go to bios and enable it" problem. The issue is that when I highlight the option it says that it only works with Vista and not windows 7.... lol right? Well I went back to dell's site and downloaded the newest bios but it still wont work, and now it's not even letting me select the option lol. I'm absolutely frustrated and when I called Dell yesterday they flat out REFUSED to help me with the problem because I had "reformatted and installed windows 7 without their assistance" even though thats what they made me do when I was having trouble with it as vista.
Hopefully someone here can help me so I can salvage this $2500 paperweight. Thanks in advance.

    Hello and welcome to NBR.
I can tell you have the first release of M17x, I had it too and it's actually a great system and that it is 100% compatible with Windows 7!

If you want to run the drivers on Dell's site, they also function on Windows 7. Just install the P06 beta ones if you have nVIDIA cards. If you want to use newer drivers, tell us what dedicated cards do you have, 260M, 280M or the ATi/AMD 4870?

Also, if you're still under warranty, Dell should help you with the installation even with Windows 7!

I'm pretty sure I have the 260M and I did install the new drivers but I still continue to have the same problem >_<
