    Hi guys,

I have been trying to do the above today....everything seems to have installed fine driver wise after OS install but if i leave the lappy for 20 mins, i come back to a screen which is off, keyboard and eveything else lit but completely unresponsive. Only a hard shutdown gets me back to the desktop.

Dont know what ive done wrong but here is a list of what i HAVE done.

    Inserted OS disc and restart.
    F12 and boot from cd/dvd.
Follow on screen instructions to install OS.

Upon OS being installed, i have then gone on to do drivers. System BIOS already running A08.

I have all the latest driver downloads on a dvd from previously saving them.
I have inserted this dvd into the laptop i am reinstalling on and have dragged the files from optical to the desktop to copy to the computer and have then run each one individually on its own with a resart between each one - ejecting the cd each time. Nothing external connected at all.

The order I have done them in is :

    Chipset Driver
    Video Driver (beta driver)
    Netwrok Gigabit driver
    Audio driver
    Wireless 6300 driver
    Synaptics touchpad driver
    Bluetooth 370 driver
    Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
    Free fall sensor driver
    Command Centre
    OSD
    ITE infra red driver

Each time, they have said installed succesfully but like i say, if left alone idle, i come back to no screen and hard shutdown.

    Any advice welcome.

LOL Stevie, your system goes into sleep after 20 mins :D

Wait for the VBIOS to be released. That's the sleep bug ^^

Your system behaves "normal" for being on the Beta Driver :)

Edit: You can also use the WindowsFlasher "Beta VBIOS" which is actually the same... Your choice :)

Wait really? No sleep upon closing the lid either (i think that was default aswell)?

Anyway, whatever you have configured, try to reproduce that issue, by go to Start -> Shutdown -> Try Sleep (Save Energy), if your issue happens again, you need VBIOS.

But oh, dear, you can already download the WHQL 8.763 drivers, found here:

So uninstall those Betas again, Catalyst Express Uninstall via Programs and Install the NEW revison A01 Driver :D

It's not mirrored yet on the support page, only on the ftp so far, though it will be the same link anyway :D

I already have everything installed, nothing to argue yet :D Minimal Test though, Sleep Works, BFBC2 works, Mafia 2 works, Battery works, in this order ^^

From what Brian wrote quoting the release notes about the vbios, i think it is indeed the vbios curing the sleep issues.

I feel so stoopid, after all, i was trying to cure this and didnt pop into my head for one minute.....think i was focused on doing a clean install correctly first as havent done one before really....wanted to make sure it all went well and completely forgot about the drivers/vbios ....ooops!

Yeah if you would have installed the old rev. A00 Drivers 8.692 your system would have run smooth on those. So as you can see, there should be not many issues now with a system like this once you updated your VBIOS either with the WinFlasher or the DOS method via USB Stick or CD. :)
