I did some test with HyperPi and my i7 is capable of running at 2.8 ghz with turbo mode like it is supposed to but when I load a game or start it up, it only goes up to like 2.4 ghz... Why can't I use the full performance of it?

I'm not sure but it may be application based, do you have access to it through the bios? at any measure this is something I would like to know as well.

    1 core turbo = 2.8
    2 core turbo = 2.4
    4 core turbo = 1.73

so should I set the affinity of that application to only 1 core in the task manager?
Ok well I just tested it on starcraft 2 with max settings. When i run it on 1 core the clock speed is higher but the frame rate is lower so I guess the quad core, even with 2.4 ghz, handles gaming better (obviously)
