    Hello friends,

I am no stranger to reformatting but have a problem I cannot figure out. I have an Alienware m17x R4 with a 1 TB HD with 64 mSATA and a Samsung 256GB 830 SSD. On the F12 windows boots I can only install Windows 7 on the Samsung 830, no option is available for the 1 TB drive. I currently have windows on the 1 TB drive and everything is working great. If I use the Windows 7 disk from the windows desktop the installation does allow the 1 TB drive to be used for a windows install. Any reason why? I rather use the F12 boot option so I can partition and clean boot.

Also the reason for the format is for the Alienware FX around the mouse area. The bottom part of the LED is always a different color. Alienware support, after power drain, new BIOS, and Alienware FX re-installation said that is the best option, otherwise a new palm rest is to be ordered. According to Alienware there are no lights around the mouse track area but are reflected. Pictures are attached, thank you.

It looks more like a bad LED to me, I could provide you with the touchpad replacement 1st.
What happens during the installation is that the PC may require the IRST driver to be loaded during the installation for it to recognize the disc.

Thanks for the response, so there is a LED under the mouse? According to tech support, there is not. Could you provide a link for the driver? I have the factory 1 TB drive with 64GB Samsung mSATA. Thank you. =o)
