(Check the link) This is my M17x display looks like whenever i play a game for a few minutes. Although it rarely happens, i wanted to get rid of it immediately, i have updated my OSD Display and Video Card drivers but the crash still occurs.
Please for those who may know how to fix this, let me know. Thank you so much.

Hi Brabostaan. Sorry the image doesn't show in my thread so i made a link.
-
Black and white stripe's.
Dont know what that could be. Is it in all games or just 1? -
Borderlands
TES IV Oblivion
Left 4 Dead 2
Lost Planet 2
Fallout 3
Sacred 2
But this problem rarely occurs. And it only happens when i play games.
Please if anything you know to help me, i would gladly appreciate it. -
Tell dell you have the pinstripe of doom screen.

Did you monitor how hot your GPU gets when this happens?
-
Could you give me some ways to control the temperature of my GPU?
Do you think if i limit the GPU performace would that fix it? -
First monitor you temps while gaming. Could be a crappy past job. Does the fan work? Did you OC the GPU?

Sapphire Technology - TriXX Tweak Utility (this is primary for overclocking, but you can monitor almost every aspect of the GPU with it. Comes with a win 7 gadget as well!)
OrbLog Blog Archive GPU Observer – Sidebar Gadget
FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net (Great for benchmarking, because it shows how hot your GPU is while doing so!)

chillcut,
nice post man! thanks for the help! i really liked the gadget =) -
This is the same issue I ran into with my M17xR3. Here is how I was able to reproduce it, and how I fixed it.
Initially I would run Firefox plus World of Warcraft in windowed mode. I noticed there would occasionally be flickering that gradually got worse, then eventually I'd either get the gray screen or the striped screen.
I would reboot the machine and everything would work perfectly till next time the machine was off for any period of time.
I updated my AMD graphics drivers to 11.6 but it didnt fix it.
Finally, I updated my OSD software from the Dell website and it seemed to have fixed it, I went a few weeks without any problems.
Yesterday, I updated from bios a04 to a07 and it started again, so today I stepped back down to a04. I havent had it recur since I downgraded but it could be because I rebooted, I'm not sure until the laptop is off for a period of time. I have also since updated to AMD drivers 11.7 (but I did that upgrade AFTER the problem started occurring again, so the 11.7 drivers werent the culprit).
So if I were you, do the following:
Run bios A04 (if you dont have it, here's the link):
Drivers and Downloads
Run at least CCC 11.6
Run the newest OSD application:
Drivers and Downloads
Let me know if this seems to correct the issue for you. -
Well, how are your temps going then?
Help, display crash. Take a look!
