LOL... It may be old, but it's still the one that wowed the gaming laptop market over... I still remember the day it was released, I wanted one so badly. But my pockets weren't deep enough and my sense of practicality just won't let me bring that around as a "laptop". Hence I sat that out and waited instead haha..

I here you brother. Im still rocking this one.

I have to say I have been casting longing glances at the M18. I have had this R1 for nearly 2 years but she still goes well and I cant really justify having two AW laptops. Dell also did a referb and put in a new G card.

I will probably by a new one next year and will wait for the M18 R2.

Yeah, Nvidia's product map looks very interesting in the coming year, if they can iron out the 25nm process. An M18X R2 with next gen Nvidia gear sounds very nice.

hey KracsNZ, i see your rocking dual SSD !!thinking of doing a upgrade but the 265gb is just too pricy but the 128 have come down so im entertaining the idea to swap out one of my 500 hybrids for one of the 128 to run the os....

yeah.. im always looking the 14's,the18's and the 17 r3's...but my little work horse has not really failed me yet soo till she does ill just window shop think of the day i might get a new one!! lol

I have to say , the M17x with the 580M, & SB is a nice buy. Good specs at a fair price.

The M18 does not have the same wow factor and I dont like the price points. But I think the 6990M are their jewel in the crown, but I am a Nvida gamer.

Mate, I have gen-1 Samsung SSDs (i.e. no TRIM). They're better than platter drives but I have to TonyTRIM (manual TRIM) the drives once a month to keep their speeds up. Still, don't think I'll ever go back to platter drives.

I am happy with my R1. I am just not happy with the lack of having newer geforce drivers and PCIe Gen2 enabled.

    Love mine!
Might get a quad core soon. zero issues currently ;) I did disable PCIe Gen2 for the newer geforce driver. Black Ops runs great, that's all I care. :)

Yep. Still rocking every game out there, but just like tyranus7 i wish we could make use of PCIE Gen 2 with the Verde drivers. After all this time it's still not fixed.

I suspect that PCIE Gen 2 related issues will never be fixed. :(

Although I have been temped to get a M18x, there is nothing wrong with my
R1 ~ plays all COD's very well. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". :)
