Hi all, so recently i ordered the alienware m14x in Hong Kong Dell Shop
the female sales was really nice and patient to explain to me almost everything about
m14x. Well i already determine on buying this beast on that day. So i did

but few days later, she called and told me that she will cancelled the order and help me to do a free upgrade from 2720 to 2760qm. I was acutally kinda happy? But yet annoyed becoz the whole process of waiting : (

But then u guys might think, yo man this is m17x area over here, wrong post!!
    But. . . But. . .
Just few hours later, i've decides to pay $3000HKD more for upgrading myself to m17x r3
    :-D
and kept my 3 years perfect cover warrenty in the order list.
Agian, the whole process of waiting is torture : (
Now 8 working days is not long i know, but im just wondering
what did u all do for this process of waiting?
And man i cant imagine those people who order lamborghini, which takes like 6months of waiting? OMG LOL

just wanna ask also what should i do when i get my m17x?
    Any tips?
Thx all, for taking up urall time for reading my short story : )

I waited anxiously for a month + as I ordered my laptop right when the 580M and ATI cards were just comming out (there was alot of demand). I just tried to focus on work but obviously thought of the new incomming toy each day ;)

    What specs are you getting?
Alot of people will probably suggest you uninstal Mcafee at least and get a lighter anti-virus program in comparison to Dell's supplied software since it is a bit of a hog.

    Congrats on your purchase!

    what's the special reason?

The rest of the computer looks great...except you can probably do the HDD much cheaper yourself, but anyways, if its ordered, its ordered

    Hmm now i hv a 8GB ram

In Hong Kong alienware is expensive, i mean way expensive
for now my m17x cost $2,520 USD
around $19,389HKD So ive decided to buy a HD TV(monitor) / or even dell IPS photo editing monitor
To plug it in as external mon at home will be better value to upgrade the full hd mon
For me i think native resolution of 1600x900 is almost the same
    well my.opinion only so yeah.
I can save up those money to buy other stuff
mayb ps3 or xbox or lens or even x-japan world tour ticket in Hong Kong :)

Thumbs up for your decision...except the lower res.

I understand you'll use a monitor, but down the road I hope you don't regret having the max res for the laptop itself.

The screen is annoying to replace compared to HD or GPU.
    Just my 2cents.

    Thx for supporting : )
I think i did make a good choice on it since it doesnt really worth adding extra money, well atleast in Hong Kong, HK Dell are ripping customers off man! !
But anyhow like one of the fd said in here ordered is ordered : )
If i live in USA, i would probably have everything custome to the best.
In order to last for longer and pump up my.resale value

    Hi all

If you think Dell is expensive in Hong Kong try South Africa. My M17X R2 cost me 4300 USD. Pretty expensive! Probably because of the import cost, and tech support is non existent in South Africa.

Lucky for me I got a 0 day waiting period, walked in and bought mine off the shelf, as this is the most powerful laptop you will get in South Africa! Needless to say this is the best laptop I have ever owned! Makes me doubt if I will ever buy a desktop ever again.
