I've recently decided to hop onto the 980m bandwagon with everyone else and purchased a 980m from HiDevolution itself. Everything went smoothly and the tracking number was generated within hours of purchase but thats where the problem really is. The tracking number provided has never updated even once since the day it was generated. Seeing this as an anomaly, I've decided to seek help from HiDevolution. Seller was initially helpful by constantly apologizing and promising that the item would be delivered soon.
Despite all that, item has YET to be shipped and it is close to 2 weeks now since my purchase date. So basically I've paid close to 900 USD plus the price of express postal shipping . What's best is that the seller has now decided to completely and utterly IGNORE all of my inquiries and messages. Not sure if any of this has happened to any of you but i'm steering clear away from them next time.![]()

This is true, i purchased from their Ebay site sales rep is very responsive. As for why your card has not shipped its because they currently have cards on order so they have nothing to send you as of now. Also PERMA is checking a dumped bios from HIDevolution that i sent him to verify if they even modded a "special" bios in the first place for the cards. Also I was suppose to receive the X-bracket for the 980m i received since i upgraded from a 7970m. The invoice i recieved from them stated i was upgrading a Alienware 17 (R5) that had a gtx765m.... WOW, honestly i dont really believe these guys have a true grasp on what they are doing. I also sent them a request and never received a response as of yet, i had to call them directly and the rep was as clueless as a deer in headlights.
With that being said only purchase this card if you are truly willing to do all your own R&D since i only purchased from them just to get the card and really could careless about their reputation. Ohhh yeah, they sent me 344.75 drivers that were not even modded, and stated that i had to mod them myself, what a joke! I only gave them a good rep on Ebay because the Ebay rep actually was responsive.
I would recommend RJtech, they seem to be straight forward with what they have to offer and actually know. -
The only reason i'm purchasing this card from them is because they provided a much cheaper price as compared to upgrademonkey and upgradeyourlaptop. Everything else from that point on is completely DIY as I have always did with my previous GPUs. What's funny is that initially they told me that the cards HAS BEEN DELIVERED only to verify again with me just now that they did not get shipment for it yet.

I received everything expect the X bracket and "modded driver" they provided drivers but they were not modded LOL and they do not mod the vBIOS. They also had my order listed incorrectly in the invoice. yes i should have gave them a lower rating, but then again i purchased hardware i knew had issues in our system to start off. Plus i could careless about the X-Bracket.

I ordered mine two weeks ago. My card was charged Friday and a tracking number sent but no actual movement on the shipment. Very disappointed. If it does not ship tomorrow, I will be disputing the charge.

I have yet to receive mine yet up till today. Has already almost 3 weeks since I last ordered. If it doesnt arrive yet by christmas eve, I'm claiming a full refund from them. Funny thing is, they actually asked me to amend the negative feedbacks I gave them LOL
The main problem here is that they are selling "preorders" instead of actual stocks as they have been bled dry for weeks now. The title that they had was really misleading and caused much grief to many of us.Last edited: Dec 21, 2014 -
My 980m shipped yesterday via FedEx overnight and is in the area now...

I recommend Eurocom. Great communication and fast shipping

It may be just an availability issue. It's normal when new hardware comes out, it usually goes out of stock pretty fast.

Mine finally arrived today and works OK so far. I've got an AW 17, but the 980M is not running at full speed. About 1000 points low on 3dmark. GPUZ says its a Power PerfCap problem. I'm not quite sure how to fix this.

Well just placed my order with them! am going to chase to get it out today since they have stock!
Edit: Called up and guess who I got through to...
Ted! He confirmed that it will be sent today! Can't wait for it! Should be getting my Notepal U3 next week along with this and let the 970M fireowrks begin!
Edit2: Order has been completed and shipping label and tracking has been issued... Expected Delivery Monday 29/12/2014 at 12p.mLast edited: Dec 24, 2014 -
And yet my order will only arrive next monday on the 29th ( 4 ***ing weeks!) seriously this is the first and last time i'm ever buying from them.

From what I have been reading it will work with optimus enabled with windows 7 and work without optimus with windows 8.1 installed a certain way. Is this the case.? -
1. In Optimus mode, with dynamic switching between Intel and NVIDIA GPU's..
2. In dedicated mode where if you press the FN+F7 key (at least on my R4.. i think it's the FN+F5 key on the 17, basically check for the key with I/D GFX written on it), it works on your NVIDIA GPU..
You can switch between the 2 modes using the above keys.. This is for Windows 7/8/8.1.. -
-
For 980M, you need UEFI enabled and legacy disabled.. You need Windows 8.1 and your boot hard drive needs to be GPT formated.
You can run your 980M in optimus mode and it seems to run perfectly with no throttling
In dedicated mode, drivers are causing problems but Mr Fox's desktop driver mod does make the situation slightly better... -
Ok so you have to have windows 8.1 to use the 980m . No matter what alienware system configuration you have.
-
-
I always thought if you had a alienware 17 with 60hz screen and windows 7 you could keep windows 7 but had to use the 980m in optimus mode and couldn't use dedicated mode.
Now I know thanks.
Now I will add sadly at the end of the sentence. ( sadly ) -

Card finally arrived after 3 weeks + worth of delay obviously WITHOUT the listed screws and drivers. Best part is, GPU is confirmed DOA. First few boot shows blue coloured horizontal lines on my screen and after reseating the card, blue lines are gone BUT the GPU could not even be detected in BIOS nor Device Manager! I felt ripped off immensely.
-
I wish you a better Xmas -
-
Can confirm that at this point nothing seems to work. Card is good as dead. Gonna file a dispute over with them
-
Have just got my 970M from them.. Everything's included as said.. Hopefully no problems here...

Previously posted in Mikecacho's thread that Hidevolution has finally gotten their head together to fix whatever shortcomings they had. Well, guess they proved me wrong yet again. After being delayed for almost 3 weeks and lied to multiple times by the ebay rep for hidevolution, my card not just only came without the screws, but also as a defective unit. As stated earlier in this post, it lasted LESSER than 30 minutes before being completely dead. Sent it back to them for the card to be inspected only for them to completely ignore my mails and messages for one whole week. It was not until I escalated my paypal case to the final level that the ebay rep IMMEDIATELY messaged me and confirmed that my card was indeed defective and a new replacement would be sent out IF I were to close the case. Complied as they requested and it has been 3 days now ever since i've last heard from them. Don't know about you guys but at this point HIDevolution seems really shady to me.

Already reported them to ebay. If anything else, I am already convinced that I would never get my gpu nor money back from them since weeks ago.
-
-
Initially attempted to file the claim via paypal but all it did was to link me back to ebay as I have already opened a case with ebay.
-
now you got me worried about hidevolution
-
pretty sure i've already mentioned this in techinferno's forum as well when i initially received the defective gpu from them last month
-
What's eurocom's warranty on GPU kits?
-
Pretty good i'd say. The last time I had an issue with my old 680m, they sorted it out easily and replaced my damaged 680m with a newer one.
-
damn,
sorry to hear about the bad experience, I was just about to pull the trigger to have my M17X R4 sent in for a 980M upgrade then I across this thread. I think I rather opt for a new laptop instead of taking chances with HiDevolution. I'm not very handy so I dont want to deal with installation myself, oh well... -

I ordered from Hidevoluton. I thought their service was good. I had a DOA but they swapped it over for me without wasting my time . Even sent me out a the new card before they received the old one.

Here is a little update regarding my recent case with hidevolution. After reading our forums regarding the multiple issues we had with them, hidevolution has decided to intervene and do the right thing. I received a $50 refund for the express shipping fee they charged me as well as a newly tested 980m which would be due to arrive next monday. However, given the nature of this case, I highly doubt that much actions would had been taken should they not discover the multiple threads complaining about them here.
I would advise fellow members to buy at your own discretion to avoid any issues. Or you can chose to purchase directly from their retailer as they are much more responsive and honest than their ebay counterpart.
Here is a link to the thread they replied to : http://forum.notebookreview.com/other-manufacturers/578507-questions-about-hidevolution-7.html
Here is a sum of what happened for those who missed out on my earlier post:
1.) Ordered from their ebay retailer at the 9th of December 2014, Immediately paid via paypal
2.) Contacted the ebay rep regarding the status and was advised that the card had been shipped. Provided with a tracking number
3.) No progress was seen at all for 2 weeks in the tracking number provided. Had to call them up to confirm that the order was never actually shipped at all.
4.) Ebay rep finally admitted that they did not receive the stocks yet due to the holidays. Could had saved me the trouble if they had been honest from the get go.Their ebay store still list stocks at available when they had none!
5.) Card FINALLY arrived after a whooping 3 weeks delay on the 29th of December only to have its screws missing (which really wasnt a big deal as I had spares) and the gpu itself DOA. Members from techinferno can relate to my woes regarding the gpu.
6.) Called their local retailer number up and was provided with a RMA number
7.) Card shipped back to them and ever since then, no replies or communication attempts were made by their ebay rep. ( Multiple messages have been sent by me to the ebay rep and this carried on for more than a week)
8.) As soon as i escalate the dispute to a final claim, the ebay rep IMMEDIATELY messaged me apologising about the delays and assured me it would be sent out unless I close the case.
9.) Taking the plunge as it is rather risky for me to close the dispute, It was then back to square one again for me where all communication attempt made to and from the ebay rep is redundant
10.) It was not until earlier this morning when I called their local retailer up that everything finally got sorted into place again.
Total amount of time it took for me to get my gpu : 41 days ( ETA arrival on 19th of January) as opposed to the intended date of 3 days from purchase date. And lets not forget the multiple issues that it had in between.Last edited: Jan 16, 2015 -
In your case you were really lucky. They requested me to pay another additional deposit if I wanted the replacement cards to be shipped out first to which I declined. As I and several other members have mentioned, their services are a hit and miss at times. And in my case, should I had chosen to completely ignore it, I would never have gotten my gpu or money back.
-
i still have time so will keep considering resellers!
EDIT: I wonder if it's better to go through the official website over their ebay store?Last edited: Jan 16, 2015 -
As I have said, it is at your own discretion. It would be better if you have easy access to their retail store to sort out any issues
-
Those guys at HID are friendly during the buying process but once you get the item shipped.... crickets... They are no more than just some average joes buying cards wholesaling them... They put zero research and development into those cards... Hell the driver they send on the CD is stock..
Billy you got the shaft hard from them, but glad to see you took the battle to their doorstep. Ebay claim service is the bomb and they will resolve any issues, i have used them before and they are very quick.
HiDevolution never again.
