Ya. It's exciting getting your alienware.
If it's from hidevolution you have nothing to worry about. Just kill time and read read read all you can on this awesome forum. -
I heard from HiDevolution yesterday that they expect to receive my M18x from Dell today! I placed the order August 2nd and they said that Dell expedites their deliveries, so I was thinking, okay, maybe 3 weeks instead of 4 before it gets to them, but this is 9 days!
Ted's great and the whole experience was very easy. I tried Dell a few times and the lowest they could go for what I wanted was over $4,100, to which I would've had to add $400-$450 for a 256GB Crucial M4, $150 or so for 16GB of 1866MHz HyperX Ram, not to mention the risk of hospitalization for somehow ingesting IC Diamond when I try to do the repasting myself.
HID gave me a $330 discount, bringing the total down to just over $4,900. Plus I don't have to pay sales tax (I don't think you have to with Dell, but with some re-sellers you do). All told, they came in a bit cheaper than Fortnax too, and faster (if only because of the taxes/fees involved in purchasing from Canada when I live in the US). One of the biggest pluses for me is the fact that they check every M18x for defects before they send it out, and sort out the replacement with Dell if there are any issues. Given all the weird issues people on this site have been having with their M18x's ordered direct from Dell (cracks, scratches, dust behind the screen), it's nice to know that when my notebook arrives it should be good to go.
Here's my configuration:
Alienware M18x Custom Built to Order

Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO for Gaming & Video

2 Year Advanced Service Plan (adds Accidental damage protection)
So, overall, if you're making a large investment in an M18x already, and you'd feel more comfortable having a pro do the upgrades and the IC Diamond repaste, I highly recommend HID.
I'll put up an unboxing post once my beast arrives.jrsx2689 likes this.
