    Hello All,

I found the specs to be: DisplayPort, HDMITM , VGA - Video Output

For the M17X R1, and found the VGA out, and what I assume arethe Displayport and HDMITM output.

But my HDMI monitor does not look like the HDMITM hook-up, so is there an adapter that I need to plug it in?

Any idea what it is called, so I can see if newegg has it, or better yet, do any of you know where it is?

    Thanks.

Not sure what you meen, I can connet my TV or Screen to the m17x r2 HDMI port. the wierd looking port is the new type of port called the "display port", the HDMI port on the laptop is a standard hdmi from what I've seen.

Well I am a moron. I was thinking DVI, and not HDMI. So when I looked at the port, I wondered how to plug my DVI monitor into the HDMI port. <sigh>

I need to check and see what other signals my monitor can take, maybe vga.

    Thanks.

    No problem :) .

You can get HDMI to DVI adapters, either toconnect to the hdmi port on the laptop and then use a dvi cabe or to use a hdmi cable with a hdmi to dvi adapter at the display.

Or you could look in to the new "Display Port" wich is a new type of digital video port, and you do get adapters to dvi or hdmi from this port, you can even connect multiple displays (from what I understand).

    Well good luck.
