So much travelling does your MX17 get? Is it a laptop or a desktop or mobile gaming system? :D

I can barely reach the bus stop if I put it in my backpack :) so it stays put, near the window... waiting for me to get home and pwn some nubs. That's m17x and me, like Bonnie and Clyde... oh yeah.....

Before I got my M11x I used to have it attached at my hip but now I do leave it at home sometimes. Many times though both go with me, just in case ;)

Yeah I too use it strictly as my desktop replacement. It'll occasionally make the trip from my home office to the living room, but that's the extent of it's travel. :)

Take mine to work every day and use it as my primary, then take it home every night and game.

I just got mine about 2 weeks ago.. and I have to tell you, it's a "tad" heavy. I bought a computer roller bag for it so taking it outside the home will now be a breeze! I just wheel it right out the door... :)

The hardwood floors also help... ;)

The whole reason I went with a laptop versus desktop was because I travel weekly for my job...I'm away from home 5 days of the week so it was a no brainer to go with the laptop...so take it with me each trip weekly. :D

Sounds like pretty much everyone here travels with there's. I bought mine for travelling. I find it funny on on other sites how much people knock it for its weight. Being a big guy myself over 6 foot and 200lbs I've come to appricate the solid alumin chasis. The more I travel with this thing the more I come to think alot of thought went into making sure these things travelled well. Anyone one else get that feeling?

I just feel like mine is a tank....I have actually dropped my backpack with the laptop in it. It made a decent dent in the hardwood floor (like 1/2" deep!), the laptop was fine haha.

No doubt these are very durable laptops

Carrying this notebook is good for my back as it keep is straight and doesnot let me lean forward...So, doctor suggested me to carry M17X 3-4 times a week for a healthy life :p

I am flight crew with a major airline and travel with mine on most trips. I have the logo'd backpack which works really well but I did do to mods to it. I shortened the upper handle straps so that when hand carried it rides farther off the ground. I also sewed on a horizontal strap that slips over the handle on my rolling bag so it can ride securely during those long concourse hikes.

I work out of town for two weeks at a time and my R2 is my only machine so it goes with me. I hate taking it in and out of the bag when going thru the airport, afraid a TSA douch will accidently drop it

Tsa should never have to touch your laptop. You put it in the tray. It goes through the X-ray. You pick it back up and put back in your bag.

The real problem....the M17x barely fits in the tray lol

I used to move mine a lot before, but now I don't have to. Now it's a true DTR. In any case, I still move it from my computer room to the living room if it counts. Before I had no problem taking it with me either. This thing is a tank, well suited for some time on a crowded train.

I've debated the wt of this vs the M6500, which is nothing in weight to my mind. You all are giving me confidence that going the M17x won't be much bother.

Well, Dell sent this to me as a replacement computer, all of my replacements have been 17" models of some form, and I need the laptop for school, so every day it goes into my backpack with the charger and I carry it around school. Very fun, I must say.

I hope that's a joke. I can't even begin to imagine the damage caused by moisture.

@Topic, I take my laptop to college with me every day. I am in a class filled with Macbook-toting-starbucks-drinking-neckerchief-wearing art students. It feels nice to preform Photoshop actions in a quarter of the time it takes them, then play Crysis and BC2 during class and watch them all stare in disbelief.

The weight isn't an issue. 2 pounds or 20, once it's in a bag on your shoulder(s) it doesn't make a difference.

Just make sure you contact your insurance company and verify that it's covered. My insurance company considered laptops to be "top of the line" at $2,000, and they accused me of fraud when I was trying to tell them my laptop cost around 5K.

I live with mine 16 out of the 18 hours I'm awake. Travel 5 days a week, and it keeps me sane. Games, Skype for the wife, work powerhouse, etc. If it aint all-in-one it isnt for me. Cant stand these tiny 11 inch calculators. So it has to be top quality, it has to work, and it has to fit MY lifestyle :)

Saying that, it has taken a few days to get used to the extra weight. I'm also a 200lb guy that, until recently, lugged a m9750 around without any problems. But this caught me off guard! That extra aluminum really does something for both weight and stability. I'll get used to it soon, and then I'll sleep with a smile (just after the back pain goes away :D ).

You guys are hillarious. The whole weight jokes and all. Sleeping with it. My wife said the other day she was gonna be a computer for Halloween so I would pay more attention to her. Lol. If only I could get her to mount it to her back permanently.....perfect woman!!!!!
