So I want to try and lower the wattage of my r2 so I can take it with me on the road. I won't be doing any gaming just word processing, report writing, internet, and maybe music. Is there a way to lower its power output to under 150 watts? I need to use it in a car but can't use an inverter (city vehicle). Any help would be great, and as always many thanks is advance.

Hi captain. For starters, disable crossfire, reduce to minimum the brightness of your screen, if you can disable wireless radios (unless you are out for some wardriving..you are not, right?), don't use cd/dvd/br drive, and don't forget to activate stealth mode.

Also, with throttlestop you can disable turbo boost for your cpu and force it to the lowest multiplier.

I believe you can bring it down to less than 150W

Edit, didn't realize that you want internet working, so forget about the wifi off.

Thanks, I totally forgot about stealth mode. I think I can still kill wifi I will be using USB tethering from my android. Oh and have no fear, there will be no war dring I promise to only use it in park.

All of the suggestions above should work just fine. You can also try enabling the battery power setting and disabling the lights :)

That should lower it a lot more thanks. While on topic, how many watts does the system consume in stealth mode. I saw 65 for the r1 but what about thr r2?

You should check out the advanced settings for you power saving mode, maybe you'll find some good tweaks there :)

Also... what about underclocking/volting the CPU/GPU or something :S never done anything like that so my bad if that's a bad idea :p but like you said, you just need word processing

Well I was able to get my cpu down clocked to 400 MHz, my GFX cards got down to 100 MHz (but I think one may have turned off/disabled), and activated stealth mode. I'm sad to say that I was bested by the PSU. The 150 watt inverter that I bought was not strong enough for the PSU. Oh well back to the drawing board, and thanks to all that gave advice.

Sent from my rooted HTC EVO 4G LTE running MEANROM ICS.

You should be able to get a 300w inverter relatively cheap.Belkin do one for around $50.

No worries, just a reminder that its the peak power output can be 300W, probably only really sustains 250W or less, but it should be enough, its pretty big and has its own fan as well!
