Hello guyz, as in topic..
my screen picks up dust like hell, and unavoidable scratches out of nowhere, i really fear to clean my RGB every 2 days as this may just leave more marks, and tiny scratches.
Sometimes when i close the lid with the screen perfectly clean, when i open it up again after couple of hours, it has loads of debris/dust already LOL, id this becouse the cooling pad sw-on ?
post your thoughts please....

I have just a ghetto little cleaning brush that comes with a soft cloth to wipe the screen. I've heard there's some cleaning spray at Office Depot that works well, but have yet to travel across town to pick it up. I guess they also have some foam that can be applied to the keyboard.
My M17x does the same...it's like a magnet for dust. -
I know Dell have some screen protector like the ones we see on cellphone screens. I remember one dell rep offering me either the screen protector or a laptop bag for free when I bought the M11xR3 but I chose the bag.
I am thinking of getting it for my M17x though. I guess I have to start checking. -
I use the piece of cloth i got with my glasses, its designed to clean the surface with minimal damage to the coated surface of the lenses and as the surface of the lenses more delicate then the plastic cover of the screen, it wont damage the screen cover.
When i clean the screen, i make a few passes with the cloth over the screen to remove any dust that stuck due to static charge, and then with gentle pressure wipe the whole screen again.
P.S
Dont use the fabric u got with your sun glasses, because usually its just regular nylon. If u dont use regular glasses and dont have the cleaning cloth get one from your friend or in the worst case scenario buy one -
I just use a microfiber cloth that I always keep in the bag with my M17x. A few swipes on the screen and its nice and clean.
Also, you may want to make sure that the keyboard isn't oily (i.e. from oily fingers) since it transfers to the screen when closed. -
I haven't had any issues with scratches or the screen getting really dirty. The only area that gets fingerprints for me is near the webcam. That's the area I use to open up my laptop when it's closed. I also don't get any oil transferring from my keypad to my screen when closed. I notice that I have a rubber bezel around the screen that sticks out slightly. It seems to help keep a little space between the keyboard and screen.
As far as cleaning goes, I just use a microfiber cloth with some LCD cleaner that I got for my tv. A few sprays on the cloth and my screen looks brand new. -
That rubber bezel can get pushed in if too much pressure is placed on the lid though skylineLvr - like from a tight backpack or a cat deciding to take a detour over your closed laptop. =)
I haven't used any protective covers yet, though have thought of trying one that diffracts light and makes the screen easier to view in daylight - not that it's been all that bad, which is why I haven't really been motivated to do it yet. I clean using either the microfiber cloth that came with my nook or one I got from a friend which is for a macbook. I dust the top, wipe the wrist wrest and if the cat has walked on it I can tell from that oil transfer onto the screen from the keys that m11xDude mentions (I do my best to discourage this, but sometimes cats will just find a way).
I did find one scratch on the screen that seemed to show up out of nowhere, but other than that it's pretty pristine. Even despite my cat's best efforts. =)
How You are protecting Your M17X screen ? any scratches out of nowhere ?
