Since there are laptops with similar proformance for a about the same money what was it about the m17x that made you pull the trigger. Did the look of the laptop .The styling the lited keyboard the alienware name, logo play any part in you buying this machine. For me proformance was number one factor but if I am going to spend close to 3,000 on a laptop it does not hurt that it is a sweet looking machince

Actually, when surfing on the internet and looking at the pictures, I was disappointed with the looks and though it looked gaudy. I placed the order anyway mainly due to the build quality and customer service. When it arrived, it looked SO much better than the pictures. I'm very happy with the laptop.

Huuuuge factor for me. I would never buy an ugly laptop. Luckily for me Alienware had the juice to back up their looks.

Its made of metal and not plastic, huge factor! That and it totally doesnt hurt that it looks sweet with lit up keyboards and junk.

It was a major factor, though not the most important. There are notebooks with comparable features - and prices - but they look like crap.

What I'm more concerned about is how a notebook performs, and my M17x performs superbly!

major for me. If the G73 didn't have half the laptop as a big brick on the back it would have been more appealing. Also, a real metal laptop is just cool. The Clevo's and other ODM stuff just seems more function over form, and that's fine, but I'd rather not have a plastic case with flex in it.

The styling was a major factor. Only Alienware can make a 2" thick notebook look good. LOL. Also the biggest factor was the aluminum chassis cause I didnt want a macbook to get an aluminum chassis.

I was considering either G73, M6500, or M17x. In the end the looks (and cost 2nd) made my decision.

    My Big Factor was:

Maybe everyone want it, but not everyone can have it, everyone have a Laptop, not everyone have an Alienware M17x :D

Mine is close to arrive, i hope still alive !!!
