I did a search and couldn't find anything? I would like to try to reseat it before the tech comes out to replace it. It might give me a slight drop in my temps in the interim. Any help would be appreciated.

Re-seating it may void your warranty.

But, I bought a Latitude E6410 and put an i7 quad in it, then put the old i5 back in and returned it. So as long as your careful, they may not catch it.

Which heatsink, the R2 has 3 and the R3 has 2. BTW, reseating the heatsinks will not void your warranty since CPU, GPU etc are user replaceable/upgradeable. Only the parts not purchased by Dell and all damages from such parts are not covered.

Villosa, I would be looking to reseat the heatsink on the CPU. GPU temps seem normal around 80ish under high load.

High load from a stress test like OCCT or Prime or just 50%+ through normal use? Also which CPU do you have? The CPU heatsink is pretty simple to access. Just download Dell's M17x-R2 service manual.

Edit I meant to ask what your CPU load temps were like. GPU load temps look pretty good on stock TIM.

Why does everyone think opening your laptop in any way voids the warranty? Lol.

Because even some desktops have the void if broken stickers on them. alienware is likely more lenient because customization is their selling point.

    always good to be careful.
