I have an ATI Radeon HD 6970M and I'm trying to make sure I am in discrete graphics mode. I know there's the button at the top of the keyboard to switch back and forth, but it's not telling me what I'm switching to. How can I tell what mode it's in?

Right click the desktop and click "Configure Switchable Graphics." This way is slightly slower but the keyboard button still requires you to click "Ok" so that isn't that fast to begin with.

If you would like to know which one you are currently on click "Graphics Properties" and it will either open CCC meaning 6970M or the Intel graphics options meaning IGP.

make sure that the try icons are turned on...if you see the intel icon, you are in intel mode :)

Easiest way imo is looking at the bottom right corner. If you're on discrete you wont see anything specifying, but the IGP shows the intel gpu panel when being used.
