    How do I make my M17x use my 7970M while on battery?

    While plugged in I'm pretty sure it's using the 7970M, but while on battery, my fps in WoW dips to 25-27fps in the same area I would get 46-50fps while plugged in

    I guess after doing some reading that it's not possible while on battery? That sucks

    well your battery cannot provide enough power to your 7970M alone (since its a beast !)

    so when u r playing it on battery the the 7970M automatically reduces its capabilities to suit the power output of your battery

    Also please do remember that playing games or doing anything resource heavy while unplugged could increase your battery wear pretty fast.

    Open CCC advanced mode and set in powerplay on max performance for battery.
    Else ull play with 7970M but only on battery clocks.

    It's been enabled, but I don't think it makes too much of a difference

    THIS!! just running plain simple matlab/visual studio applications killed my battery pretty quick :( now it doesn't even last for 3-4 hours :( (yup, on balanced)

    Of course I understand that doing anything intense will drain my battery, but I like the novelty of not being plugged in to kill stuff :)
