    Hi I just recently bought a m17x r2 from someone. The guy lost the recovery cd so my question is how do i restore the laptop without the cd ?

    You have three options, ranked from easiest to hardest:

    1.
    When you power it on and the Alienware head pops up, press F10 immediately. This will boot the laptop up off the recovery partition, if the previous owner didn't delete it.

    If the recovery partition has been deleted, download Windows 7 from the link below and burn it to a DVD with Imgburn. Insert that disk into your computer and reboot. At the Alienware head press whatever F key lets you boot from disk.
