HI all, I couldn't find this info in other threads, so i'm starting a new topic.
First, I just got my shiny new m17x today :) :) - well, Its so cool, hat i cant stop smiling..

So far, everything has been smooth. Started without any problems and i ran supreme commander and Napoleon total war at the highest settings and the machine pulled through without any hint of a slow down! now thats what I call a beast.

However, what i did find a bit odd is that i ddint get any kind of a warranty card, paper citing my config etc.. just the machine. So naturally, the first thing i went about doing is to verify if i have received the same machine as i had ordered.

I'm not so much of a hardware expert, so please help me out here :)
I verified the processor and the Ram, The OS, and now, the warranty as well(from the dell site)

my problem is that i dont know how i can find out if i have two 5870 graphics cards or not.. there i can use your help

also, How can I verify that i indeed have the RgB Led display? I mean, the one I have looks great, however, it'll give me more peace of mind if i can be sure...

Right click your destop and open screen resolution. If it says 1920x1200 you have the RGB.

Go to device manager and open display adaptors. Should show 2 video cards. Or go to Catalyst Control Center and make sure Crossfire is selectede. Or look for 2 GPU fans and 1 cpu fan on the underside of computer.

One last thing, can you tell me about this stealth mode? How do i know if its on stealth mode or not? and if it is, how do i bring the machine out of it?

Great question! The button that looks like a "gas gauge" on the top right hand side of your keyboard toggles Stealth Mode on and off. After a few minutes your computer will switch to stealth unless GPU is under load. I just turn it on and turn it off before I start playing a game. Also the button next to it the "flying saucer" controls your Alienfx settings. Under category Alien Fusion you can adjust your battery performance. If using as a desktop replacement just switch everything to performance. If using for battery than do the opposite. If you start a game and FPS are really slow than stop the game exit and toggle stealth to make sure it is off and than restart your game.

Thanks!! Just one observation.. Its still hard to know "IF" you are in stealth mode or not. Some imbecile has written the text on the dialog box which pop ups when you toggle stealth mode.. Its the same text for enable and disable!
There's no other indicator is there? :S well, we'll have to live with this now..

Yes it is rather confusing. Everyone complains about it. Someone did right a 3rd party application that would control stealth but I have never used it. If you are surfing the net, email or word processing and than switch to a game the machine will most likely be in stealth.

"Stealth Mode access detected" means you are in stealth mode.

The yes toggles both in and out of mode. Utterly stupid.

I put in a request to engineering to list video card models/types in the BIOS. Not sure if this will happen, but I agree that it would be nice to have...

Thanks Erawneila for making the request as this would be extremely helpful in discerning the gpu's. It's strange how the R1 showed this information even though the purpose was for switching the integrated to discreet and vice versa. If this request does in-fact recieve acknowledgement will we possibly see it in a future bios update?

To know whether you're in stealth mode or not...
you just have to press the stealth mode button...
and after that run GPU-Z and see the crossfire = "disable (enable)"
then you're computer is in stealth mode...

and press the stealth mode again...
    and see the GPU-Z
and you'll see crossfire ="enable(2 GPUS)"
    This is the normal mode...

So stealth mode does nothing other than disabling one of the GPUs? Or is there more to it?
