The R2 does not have an IGP unfortunately because the chipset can't utilize the i-core CPU's integrated graphics.

You can't that's what I'm saying. The chipset that the M17x-R2 uses CANNOT tap into the CPU's built in GPU. The M17x-R2 also lacks a motherboard IGP. You are forced to use the dedicated GPU (4870m, 5870m, 285m) instead. Sorry, there is no way around it.

Based on some of the issues I have read about, it's actually a positive thing this feature is not present. I have seen posts that a lot of people with the R1 have disabled the integrated graphics to make their machine perform properly. If I had been interested in mediocre performance, I would have saved money and simply purchased a disposable laptop with integrated graphics from Walmart.

I might be wrong here but i thought my i540 chip has an onboard graphic chip ... and i thought when i go into stealth mode it uses that instead of the ati's .
Certainly benchmarks in stealth mode suggest it isnt using my ati's

And, you should have fun doing what you want with it, too. :D
And, I'll have fun not having integrated graphics on my R2. :D

    Kumbaya, my Lord. Kumbaya.
