Wondering if it's any good. On par with the m15x Screens?
The m15x screens are WLED, don't know about the m17x. Have only seen mention of CCFL.

the non RGB screen doesn't compare period the RGBLED is brighter, has better colors, and is a must. best screen i have seen in a laptop.

The RGB LED is a definite must if getting a M17x. The 1st 2 noticeable differences right away you can see are how much brighter and vibrant the colours are when comparing the older screens to the RGB LED.

The sheer brightness capabilities of the RGB LED screen blew me away at 1st. I was now able to use the notebook in a super bring room with windows everywhere and sun light shining brightly in. I was able to sit next to a window and in front of one and still see what was being displayed on the screen clearly. This made me very happy of course ;) :D

The non RGB screens were good and are pretty good screens however if you want to compare them with the RGB LED screens they will get KOed! lol.

After seeing this LED screen now I am after LED teles and LED external screens. ;)
The sheer brightness alone won me over and not to mention the vibrant colours. It just makes images and pictures stand out more. Melikeys eheheheh.

    Cheers. :)

The RGB is gorgeous. No comparison really. not to knock the CCFL screen, but RGB is night and day differant. First time I've adjusted the brightness on a laptop. Bright and vibrant colors. Really give new life to vividly colored photos.

I personally don't care all that much either way, but I'm also content with 1440x900.

I have the WUXGA screen and it is really poor brightness on it. When I sit in my livingroom in the middle of the day or at school with lights above me it's also hard to atually see the screen and it's like a mirror somehow. I sure would like to see the RGB screen sometime for comparrison. Almost makes the blu-ray drive pointless :p

If there is possible to see a difference between them then sure do :D
Did they put the glas thing over the screen on the RGB screen too?
Will probably not buy an R2 anytime soon but hopefully an R3 with 2 480m's :D
Hopefully they keep the RGBLED screen.

i was going to say it does not compare but everyone did that already and i would sound like a broken record...so here goes i have the m15x and just received the m17x and the first reaction was from my wife,, "WOW that is really red" lolz the colors are so vibrant the ati pop up with the red background came up and it was nice and vibrant kinda like hurting your eyes vibrant. MAN is it nice all the colors are so much brighter and vivid. Not only that they all seem so real and should be the right tone. It seems like the other lcd are washed out in comparison. I went from the m11x to m15x and that was a huge bump in quality and the RGB blows it all out of the water...worth every penny over any sort of other upgrade that can be done down the road for cheaper and usually better parts but RGB you can't touch.

Here, some of my previous pics..

    M17 reassembled and swiched on.

And comparison between WUXGA RGB and CCFL. Again this image does not do justice to how clear the screen is in the flesh.

Kudos Bat boy....I was gonna say this is already a thread....From a normal wuxga user. i can say the RGB is sweeeeet. If the price is right, get it. If however like me you get a good deal on a M17xR2 with a normal wuxga, i would not say it is a deal breaker.........RGB = prefferd...RGB does not = a must

Lol, the difference is $200 @ the time of purchase in the states not sure about anywhere else. I know Gintor you are in the UK or somewhere in Europe and if it is that high there I feel for you. BTW off topic, but do to the incompetence of the dell onsite techs I am getting a replacement system to dual 5870's.

Sweet........I am a chancer m8.....I brought my Alienware from a reseller and saved $1500. If i brought it from Dell i would have paid at least $1800 for the same system with RGB...Hence the reason for my post.....If i brought from Dell...Hell ye no brainer, RGB all the way baby......But as i stated if your in my situation, I cant justify the extra cash.......Congrats and envy on your new cards bro

I paid $200 more for the RGB when I ordered it, and it's definitely my favorite part of the laptop. Since I didn't get an SSD. :) For that money, it's totally worth it.
