Hey everyone, I wanted to ask how the 7970M with Enduro off is running for you guys with 13.1 WHQL. Post your 3DMark11 P score (stock clocks) and average frame rates for the games you play, and possibly any other issues like graphical errors and other bugs.

On the Enduro side (Sager is Enduro only), 12.11 beta seemed to do a lot of good for 7970M users. There are still a lot of games with utilization issues, but it is getting better. 13.1 WHQL eliminated the black flickering, at least in the games I play. I score about P6600 with the 13.1 WHQL driver (stock clocks).

Around 6200 here at stock clocks (but i'm running undervolted). However, gaming performance has been flawless even in the old non-beta drivers for me. The recent 12.11 and 13.1 just made it a bit faster.

stock clocks i really dont know.

My 7970m is vbios modded to 1.075volt 980/1450mhz

My score increased from the 12.11beta11.

    12.11Beta: was around 7250 3dmark11 points
    13.1: is around 7420 3dmarks11 points.

And i am waiting for some better 13.2Beta, i geuss maybe not much increase but much lower latency.

How about Assassins Creed III and Far Cry 3? In the Sager forum everyone is having issues with black boxes around certain textures and terrible performance with the DX11 .exe. Assassins Creed III is so bad from what I've read that it is disturbing.

Do not many Alienware owners have the 7970M, because it seems like no one really wants to talk.

Ha, well I got 6750 on 3dmark stock clocks. BF3 runs flawlessly, averaging 55 fps maxed out, GTA IV is poorly optimized but it does alright.... and max payne 3 runs super smooth with crazy high fps.

7970m is fantastic, much better choice over the 680m since it's less than half the price + in some games, even more powerful. New 13.1 driver solved lots of problems. I run with discrete graphics only, don't even have enduro installed. Also if you look at the benchmarks the new 13.1 driver destroys the gtx680m. Since 12.11 beta they have really optimized the 7970m.

Some games even more powerful? I own both, and the 680m performs better in most games stock for stock, and blows it out of the water when overclocked. The 7970m is a great card, but it's kind of ridiculous to suggest it's superior to the 680m. 13.1 "destroys" the 680m? Check my sig for benchmarks and try to match them without BSODing or crashing, then we'll talk about which card "destroys" which :p

In most games? Well in games like Crysis 2, Metro 2033 BF3 and in Skyrim I've seen in many comparisons that the 7970m performs better.

I haven't overclocked yet. Not found the need yet. May do in the future if a game like GTA V forces me to :nah:

Also isn't the 7970m subordinate in Sager Notebooks because you can't turn Enduro off and run off discrete graphics only?

If you look in the 13.1 thread, many people commented about Far Cry 3 performance and the 7970m. There didn't seem to be any issues. Here's a youtube link:

Omen, having owned both cards all I can say is you're wrong, the 7970m most definitely does NOT destroy the 680m, across the board it performs below it in every measurable category with the exception of a few games.

Yes, but that doesn't make the AW 7970m better than the 680m. We already have too many of these threads on NBR, so I'll try to make this short. The 680m handles Crysis 2 and Skyrim better than the 7970m does. Even with 13.1, the 7970m suffers from framerate and utilization drops and microstuttering on both titles. Metro 2033 performs similarly on both cards (stock clocks) but once the 680m is overclocked it takes a clear and obvious lead over anything the 7970m does. There are a few titles that the 7970m handles marginally better on stock clocks, but there are many more titles that the 680m has the clear advantage. Like I said before, once overclocking is introduced, the 680m will always outperform it.

Take it from the guys that have owned both cards, we know what we are talking about. I loved my 7970m (aside from a few titles that had god-awful performance) but I love my 680m that much more. No hassles, no problems, no issues, and brilliant overclocking make it worth the 200-300 dollar investment.

But comparing them directely with different CPU's is that right and will the numbers be correct?
On my computer is seems like my CPU is the bottleneck.
When OC'ing the CPU my GPU also seems to score better.
Also with my stock 720 my 7970m scored a lot lower than with my new 940.
This since i see your two computers have different CPU's and that your sager GPU scores way higher than my same GPU with the weaker 940.

    Could be me misunderstanding this.

(The times ive tried to OC my 7970 the computer goes to freeze when starting MSI afterburner. So im comparing with stock values for th GPU)
