Not sure what happened to my post, but I was asking: how is the quality on the 1920x1080 WLED screen on the M17x? How are the colors, viewing angles, etc. Is there any "graininess"? How does it compare to the B+RGLED screen on the L502x?

Or better yet get the panel number/type from someone who has a R3/R4.
I'm curious which display panel Dell uses as well. -
It's ummm Meh....
-
Care to elaborate? I'd really like to know, since there's no way I'll be able to see it in person, and getting a computer without seeing the display in person has caused me problems in the past...

60hz or 120hz model?
I have the 120hz and it's a LG Philips LGD02C5. -
Gives you an idea of the 120hz screen
It seems to be used by a lot of manufacturers that offer a 3D screen. -
what's the response times on our wled monitors?

in R3 there is lg panel
quite good but far away from rgb tn.

I don't like my R3 compared to my R2.... I've gone as far as to give my r3 system to my brother to use while I go back to my R2 system. There isn't any game that I can say that I play that I like better on my R3 compared to my R2 system. The RGB LED is amazing....

I have the M17X and the XPS15. The 15's monitor is quite beautiful, but I'm never disappointed or disgusted when I go back to my M17X. It really isn't a dealbreaker, unless you happen to be much pickier than myself.

But how is it different? Is the contrast worse? Or are the colors duller...etc.? I really hate not being able to see it for myself, but there's no way. All the ones in stores have the 900p screen... -

So I have my R2 now, as configured in my sig. Should I wait to sell it until I get the R4 and switch out the screens? I dont know how much of a difference it will make...and I bet its a big old pain in the @$$ to do. Oh well, I guess I will just list my R2 on FB and if some wants it, NM then.

I've got the R3 & have managed to go through 3 different screens.
Originally bought it with the 1600x900 which does the job & looks fine but wanted 1920x1080 called Dell who quoted some £600 odd for the 1920x1080 screen & £700+ for the 3D version. Managed to find one a used one (with the screen: LP173WF1 (TL)(B3)) obviously can notice the difference compared to the 900p one. Unfortunately the alien on the back wouldn't glow (things like that bug me) so sold it & had already found another (the AUO b173hw01 v5) brand new & so far so good. It does look a bit better than the LP but it's hardly noticeable, especially while gaming
Changing it is easy if you find the entire panel (it's a pain just to change the screen, it's stuck to the plexi - there's a good post on here with all the details)... it's finding the panel for a good price that's the hard part
From Dell (22 March 2012 - they insisted on sending an engineer):
LCD replacement would cost you 627.96 £ (including VAT and labour of on-site technician)
price for FHD 3D display would be 795.96 £ -
To be honest I actually don't like the RGB LED screen that much. I know everyone loves it, but to me the colors look cartoonish and over-saturated. Red looks pink, etc. It's not the best.
I'm wondering how this screen compares to the screens on the MacBooks. Those are TN screens, seemingly nothing special, yet they are worlds better than the crap 1366x768 screens packed into most laptops these days. What makes them better if they are essentially the same technology? -
17" MBP
Maximum: 284 cd/m²
Average: 267.2 cd/m²
Brightness Distribution: 87 %
Center on Battery: 270 cd/m²
Black: 0.45 cd/m²
Contrast: 600:1
M17x R3 60HZ (LGD02DA LCD)
Maximum: 248 cd/m²
Average: 233.4 cd/m²
Brightness Distribution: 87 %
Center on Battery: 243 cd/m²
Black: 0.34 cd/m²
Contrast: 715:1
M17x R2
Maximum: 302 cd/m²
Average: 292 cd/m²
Brightness Distribution: 89 %
Black: 0.4 cd/m²
Contrast: 743:1
Surprisingly the MBP has less contrast than the M17x but it does not have the greater colorspace that the MBP has, which is closer to Adobe RGB:
So basically it just comes down to the brightness, the blacks, the colorspace, and just the panel quality in general which makes MBP screens look a bit better. -

Barlett,
What is the Spec for this model: LGD02C5 which I have, and how it compares to the above you listed? -
