I've been waiting for almost an hour on this little window called "Alienware AlienFX" and says its Current Version: 1.01.03 and Upgrading To: 1.00.09.
The progress bar keeps moving over and over to the right as well.

Is it supposed to take this long??

Oh gosh, your downgrading your firmware, that might be the reason why the flash takes so long.
I hope it won't brick your controller. Remember to always use the same or newer version of Command Center, never older.

@breadcheese, How did it work out for you in the end ?
I seem to have the exact same problem.
I just got the laptop today (used) and I reinstalled windows because it came in norwegian and I needed it in english.

When trying to install the software that came with it, AlienFX warned me that it would upgrade the board firmware to coincide with its version and now it's taking hours.

Any advice on what I should do now ?

    Anyone ?

I'm sorry for the double post, but that thing is still running and it's been at least 3 hours since it started. I'm worried sick here.

Where did you take the Command Center file?

Download the latest version available for your laptop from Dell support, don't use the one on the DVD that came with your laptop, ever!

    Hello, quick question.

What should I get from the DVD & what should I get from Dell Support?

Now I'm worried and don't wanna update/install something from the resource DVD if it's going to mess my system up.

Just don't use the DVD at all. The drivers/software on Dell support page are more recent than the DVD content.

Back them up on a USB stick so you can use them instead of the DVD when you don't have access to an internet connection and you must perform a clean install.
