Ever since I've purchased my m17x ive seemed to never get great fps out of wow. When I look into the distance with my draw on high/ultra it drops to about 20fps.

    Ingame settings test
All low, with only Draw distance ultra = LAG
All low, with all low = Runs perfect
    1900x1200
    8x AA

    My comp specs:
    4870x2 w/ 10.11 and CAP2
    i7 620m
    4GB memory

Today I was playing and checked what my cpu usage was at.
It was averaging around 29% after an hour of gameplay.
Running in windowed I checkedd gpu usage.
It was at 99% usage with 30% fan speed and 95c. (the back was rather hot..] Avg core was 250, mem was 200, didnt seem to be going up. This is similar in fullscreen when Crossfire is emabled, except each card stays at around 50% usage.

I just did a fresh reformat for wow and it is running exactly the same, Any ideas?

make sure power play is enabled for performance. People have been having loads of issues with WOW lately. Shows how badly optimized the game is really. Try some other game like Crysis to confirm that everything is working correctly.

WoW is terribly optimized and should by no means be a measure of how well your system performs. Their engine is what, like 7 years old now? Sure they use some DX11 elements in their latest patch but the game is still terrible... graphically speaking...

Agreed Turmoil. But 10 million people keep paying $15 a month to play it, so why in the hell would they change anything? I could run everything maxed out but the shadows for some reason. I just got the game to run at 60fps in NR and called it a day. I didn't spend a whole lot of time in heavily populated areas though, since I prefer solo questing to getting told off by 12 year old kids. Dial down the shadows to about the center of the slider. Lose some AA and draw distance.

I could run it at full with shadows at 3/4. Horrible slow-mo lag is a killer though

While technically it works with crossfire, it performs better without it (almost double the FPS in my case).

With xfire disabled, I ran it at ultra everything maxed except AA off with around 70 FPS, 40 in Dal. However that being said I found a few odd times that performance would go up by increasing AA, odd but was very repeatable.

FYI, wow works with eyefinity very well, I did have to lower my settings to high to get playable rates.

I am now an ex-addict, quit forever (again lol)

That's what everyone that plays an MMO says. :)
