How solid are the M17x's screen and cables?

I wonder how solid can the M17x be. Since I have it, I personally feel it's one of the strongest laptops I had. Before this M17x-R1, I had an m15x (not the M15x) which was made of light "toy-like" plastic and has the worst build quality I've never seen. What a terrible experience it was!

-I wonder especially concerning the M17x's screen. Do you have an idea of how it is fixed to the main structure of the laptop? Is it fixed to the metal part of the screen or to the plastic one?

-Also, can any occasional situations cause damage to it? For example, I had the AC adapter's cable stuck in the space between the main part of the laptop and the screen and, without seeing it, I closed the screen on it then reopened it because I felt it could not close, without forcing of course...

-Finally, are those cables fragile? Can I let them on the floor in a room where people sometimes walk on it or do I have to isolate them?

Yes, I know how fussy I am :p but you know, when you succeed to have an Alienware in a little country lost in South Sahara (Burkina Faso), you can't take any risk with it.

Thanks in advance for giving your point of view on it :)

The glass or plastic over the screen will protect it from damage that would happen easy like starting to close it.
I had a tool box plastic with parts in it for laptops prob 6 or 7 lbs. fall from 3 ft above my closed R1 and didnt even scratch it. And as far as stepping on the power cord I do on mine all the time with no problem. Hopes that helps.

In addition, the entire lid assembly is screwed with 4 screws into the bottom metal cage and then the magnesium rollcage is screwed over with ~10 screws. So this sandwich-like assembly is totally rock solid.
