Hey Guys I've recently been hit with a windows defender virus as well as a google redirect virus (anything I click on google brings me to a different/invalid webpage) and I am not sure how I should fix this. I called Alienware support and spent a good hour talking to the tech trying to resolve the issue. All he did for me was 1. Running windows repair hoping the computer fixed itself and 2. Getting me to the area to restore your computer from a earlier date before loading windows. When both failed he asked me to take out my Alienware resource disk and run it. I was at a different house so I did not have the disk with me but after doing my own research and attempts to fix this virus problem I've figured out that using the Resource Disk could be more of a bad thing (making the lighting not work for example) than a good thing so I have come to ask for your help.

Ive tried fixing this by running my computer in safe mode with networking running a program named Rkill and then scanning with both Malwarebytes and Superantispyware and removing any programs found that are infected.

Nothing has worked thus far and I've figured reformatting my computer would be the best option for myself, but now I am unsure of a safe way of doing this. Dell support wants $140 to help me with their own product ( them)
and as my computer did not come with an alienware respawn disc I do not know a way of reformatting my computer. If anyone could tell me or link me instructions on how to do it I would be very thankful.

If anyone has any advice they can lend me that would be great, thanks for reading.

    Thanks in advance!

Download the appropriate ISO from here, and burn to disc using this.

Download any relevent drivers and applications from Dell's support site (if you're unsure. I'd go with direct drivers though, straight from NVIDIA, Intel, etc.)

Reinstall as you normally would Windows, followed by Alienware apps, etc.

Just want to make sure you understand, the virus is not any fault of Dell. They want $140 to help you get rid of a virus that you put on there. Not trying to be a jerk, but if your HDD died they would send you another because that is hardware. They cannot be responsible for what you install as software.
