cool, if I manage to buy a second 260 ( and if I can find the sli cable and get brave enough to open my system, since my experience is I´m not pretty crafty and I tend to screw thinks I open) I´ll definately check your video frame by frame so I don´t break anything lol. Thanks for taking the time Moo

    Ahh k thanks.

Wowsers the 8800m costs more than the 260m and 280m.
I'm guessing cause its older and harder to find now. hmmssss.

Ohs i never knew there was a 285m card for notebooks.

Little help, if anyone could. Followed Moo's video to clean my GPU fan/heatsink, now hybrid graphics is greyed out and disabled in the BIOS, and doesn't show up in device manager.

All cables/connections, etc. are in place and correct, and there was no problems during cleaning or anything like that.

Edit: Never mind, just didn't show up in the BIOS for the first couple of boots. All good now. (And yes, cleaning does help. Went from 110*C load to 65. :p)

You must enable the IGP in Bios for hybrid graphics to be enabled.

    Using this old thread...

Moo, Thanks for the vid. Downloading it from the mediafire link. I hadn't seen it before but going to do some cleanup now. Thought it was funny in the end when you say "it's not going to blow up" and the video ends just as you boot ;)

Are all the screws you were removing phillips screws? When I first tried to open up to access the GPU, I thought it would be done from the underside. There are these 4 screws (2 each side) holding the thick metal cover to the underpanel where the GPUs are. They look like torx screws (i had to google the name). I don't have those drivers. Wasn't sure how to remove the media strip so closed it back up.

Now that I'm going to cleanup, what about applying lubricant/grease for the GPU fans?

Do you think that I should do this to clean the vents of the GPU??

Do what? Open up and clean - sure, if you are comfortable with opening up your laptop - and know what you are doing/confident to not break anything. Remember the thin cables connecting power strip and keyboard (1 + 2). If you don't have any massive dirt build up, then it may not be worth the hassle.
