I found a way to respawn the m17x without the help of the Respawn disc. *

I know that a lot of user on here likes to do fresh install on their new precious m17x. And at points you want to do Complete Restore, and some will have and don't have access ot the Respawn Disc. Now, you can do so if you don't have access to the Respawn Disc. The only qualifications you need is 1) Respawn partition is still available , 2) Have a copy of Acronis Disk Director 10 (Trial does not work). If you have the above requirements, then you are good to go.

    The steps.

    1) Install Acronis Disk Director 10, and Restart
    2) Start the Acronis Disk Director program, Click on Respawn Recovery, then click Disk, Advance , Set Active, and Click Commit.
    3) Restart windows and you will have the option to Respawn.
    4) Select Complete Restore

The above steps worked for me because I have tried it.

I don't know what gpart is. I use Acronis Disk Director to set which partition to be Active, so I could get the Respawn Recovery to boot.

Gparted is a linux. You burn gparted to a disc and then boot your computer from the disc. Once loaded up you run Gparted and set your recovery partition to make the computer boot it. Then you restart and your m17x should boot the recovery partition. You can then do a full recovery. No need to install or buy any program.

Gparted is a partition manager, its just used to add the recovery partition to the MBR kinda like my way but easier then the linux version

Hey, you saved my life! I have an M17-r1 and I used acronis 11 because mine never came with a repsawn disk just a system restore disk. I used the same steps with the newer version of acronis and voila, system restored!

EDIT: Why do they put a respawn partition and tell you how to use it in the manual but not give you the respawn disk???
