Hi. Is there a way of checking whether the esata port on the m17x is working or not? the reason I'm asking this is because I've just got back my repaired external hdd today and when I hooked it up to the m17x via esata to transfer some files, it'll stop halfway with an error message: The destination you have specified does not exist. It might be an offline network connection or an empty CD or DVD drive. Check the location and try again.
Odd thing is, when I try using the hdd via a usb cable, this doesn't happen. So yea, just wanna know if there is a way to check whether the e sata port is working or not. I had no problems using the said hdd with my previous R1 but I've never tried it with the R2 before this.

other than using a e-sata device not sure there is much more you can do.
Seems like you do have an issue with it. it could be the e-sata cable though if the USB side works -
Here's more stuff that I discovered. Sending stuff into the HDD does not work, however, withdrawing files from the HDD via esata works.

Also this message pops up,
"A storage device was connected. If this device is a port multiplier, only port 0 of the port multiplier will be active."
Not sure what it means, but after some searching, it was mentioned in a forum somewhere that windows might be confused that the drive is either a usb hub or a hard drive..? -
An eSATA port multiplier allows a single eSATA cable to be used to access multiple drives. It's an extension to the base standard, so not all eSATA host controllers support it.
Does your external drive happen to have more than one physical disk? If it does, then that may be the cause of the issue. -
I'm not sure. This is the external HDD i have LaCie - LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Disk
A lacie D2 quadra.
