So the title pretty much says it all. Basically i just want to know what is the best way to tell if your graphics cards are throttling. Any particular program to use?

Also how can you tell if a game uses cpu or gpu more?

i just want to make sure that i am getting the best possible performance from my cards.

gpu-z is a great gpu monitoring tool.
hwinfo is also a great monitoring tool for your whole system.

question for everyone. i have been thinking about upgrading my graphics cards setup to 6990's but is it really worth it to put the cash down for them? or should i just save that cash and put it towards a new alienware laptop i plan on getting next year?

Might as well save for next year. ur 5870's should last u till then. and besides, its not like you "Have" to play at max resolution and settings to enjoy a game, right?

That and the 7000 series should be out if lucky this year, or early next year.

We don't know that the 7000 series cards will be compatible with the R2 yet. 6990s are pushing the current 240 watt PSU pretty hard as well.
