Hi all,
So all of a sudden I'm getting error messages when trying to use Davinci Resolve on my laptop (it's a color correction app for film). From what I gather it's because it's not recognizing my GPU, it's only recognizing the intel one (which is strange as I've changed nothing recently).
And so I think the solution is to disable the intel graphics in my Bios. I'm not very good when it comes to changing things around in the Bios menu, scared I'll mess something up. So I thought I'd ask if anyone can explain how to do this.
Sorry if this is a dumb question. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT:
Just noticed in my device manager it says windows has stopped the device because there is a problem.
And I also noticed any time I open nvidia geforce experience there's immedietly an error that pops up.

can you not use the function keys to switch to dedicated mode?

As gh0sts has suggested you will need to use the FN key to get it to switch. To the best of my knowledge there is no way to disable the intel option from the Bios in the Alienware 17 R1.

That code 43 is a generic driver failure and is no good for diagnostics. Try removing the device and selecting the option to delete the driver files. Restart and try to re-install the nvidia drivers.
If it still happens then it's time for a support call, the card may have gone bad but they will go through some tests. Use the driver dell publish for the machine and not one from the NV site as this is what dell will want for support. If you are unsure then they will take you through it.
Good luck.MogRules likes this.
