Reflash the alien fx board? I don't think that's been done before. Usually a CMOS reset will reset the alien fx settings anyway. If alien fx is not working at all, then it may be a defective motherboard. You can always try and reflash the system BIOS to see if that fixes alien fx.

yes when you use the system restore disc that dell provides you and you use it on windows 7 it corrupts the alienfx board and it doesnt work so you have to reflash the chip and there is a guy on ebay who does it but i wanna do it my self

Hi, I did read about problems with the AlienFX bios on the MB quite a while ago (around 1 year). Seemed that if you had installed a later version of AlienFX, the bios was flashed as part of the install. If you then used an earlier version the flash part screwed up the lighting. Don't know if this fits your situation or if i'm remembering it correctly, but I recall a MB being replaced

Since you have found someone that can fix it maybe AW support now know what to do?

haven't ever seen anybody actually flash anything to get it uncorrupted. Your probably just going to have to get another motherboard. :(

Is it on the motherboard? Or is it on the actual control stip itself? The reason I ask is, I konw the control strip is fairly inexpensive (30 bucks or so), but if it's the motherboard that's a WHOLE other issue...

    Good luck!!
