How should I go about doing this? I've been getting ntoskrnl, igdkmd64, and tcpip.sys blue screen errors, and from all the forum and microsoft staff posts i've read, 95% of my problems probably comes from the 460m(except the tcpip.sys error). Having a little experience in retail sales myself, i'd try to spend as little company money as possible to get a favorable review, and say "We can replace that with the exact same card(clothing, accessory, misc)."

Would the best course of action be to ask for a better gpu, such as the 6970? Or risk another 460m and hope it works better? Thanks in advance.

I would ask for a better gpu like 6970m. Dell sometimes upgrade parts when they know that there is a risk that putting in the same part will cause the same problem.

I have had a 900p CCFL screen in my R2 in the past (because 1200p was no longer available in new systems whan I bought my R2). It had major backbleeding, so I demanded to get it replaced. When they finally replaced my screen, I got the 1200p RGB led as a replacement as they probably did not want to risk that a replacement CCFL will backbleed.

My advice is to ask for a 6970m, as they will probably give it to you.

As always, thanks for being helpful. I'll do that when the dell tech calls me in 2 hours. Wish me luck.

I think your screen replacement was most likely an error in shipping & replacement. As for asking for an upgrade to your GPU, you'll at least have to pay the difference if it does occur.

It was not an error. I asked them about it, and they said they did it out of good will (probably because I spent a fortune on 4 years NBD (eu price)).

    Currently @ 2hr 14min on the phone.

Edit: banging my head against the wall.

The only good thing is the dell tech said the display messed up due to random/fortunate bsod,, so he's asking for approval on replacing gpu.

    Edit 2: He's sending another 460m T_T

Yeah the 460m's were a really bad idea to have for this laptop, they should have just waited and not had an Nvidia gpu available until the 560m. If they had a 570m when I got my laptop, I would have gotten it, but the 6970m I have for the most part is great.

Yea deemed this laptop to be the killed of the M15x, (and yes I realize that some people would say the m14x is) but around the time this came out was the time the 15x died out. And I speced mine to be completely different from the current day 15x. I'm happy today to say i did just that :)

i know that i got my dual 4870's replaced to 5870's about a year later, but the process brought on a single good card and a single bad card. I then had to wait about 2 weeks, which sadly felt like an eternity for some reason until I got 2 good cards back.
