I have to get a replacement for my M17xR3 but I don't want to wait 10 days for it to be sent out, tested, then get the same on back, and it might not still be working properly!

Even the reps say they dont see a problem, but oh I do, and it's so annoying.

Is there anyway to get a replacement without spending time without my M17x?

    Thanks
    HowieM

whats the problem? your more than likely going to have to send it in. i dont see any way around that unless you maybe sweet talk one of the reps.

You're going to receive a replacement first (if you're entitled ti get one) and then send yours in, not the other way around.

Thats not true.. often reps try and get the laptop sent in to the "the depot" to check it out and repair. Which requires you to send it in and if they deem that a replacement is needed they will then do it. Otherwise they will just repair it.

    What problems are you having??

Not true, they can not force you to send the laptop to depot unless you somehow got the basic warranty without NBD support. If you have the NBD support warranty or better they are required to give you on-site warranty or a replacement if they are unable to do that or don't want to do that. If they try to force you to send it to depot demand a refund as they will break the terms of the warranty by doing that. You pay for on-site support so don't expect less. They can try to fix it though so don't expect a replacement if it's your first problem and you're outside your 21 day period.

You bet, I've had a few replacements so unfortunately I know all of the crap games Dell tries to play.

Im sorry I worded that bad. I just meant they often will try and fix it either by depot or on site. Either way they dont just offer a replacement off the bat.

    my bad...

Gonna quote these guys, cuz I love 'em both to death :) :D My boiz :)

@OP, sometimes the csr will even try to get you to take pix of your issue, if it's cosmetic as well. At that point, either tell them no I don't have a camera, or tell them no it's not necessary, and they'll give in quite easily and give you what you want (replacement sent to you to compare both machines and then you send back the sucky one within 10 days, which you can have prolonged if you were out of town like I was). Note though, keep an eye on your warranty, cuz mine disappeared the other day but was restored when I sent an email to a csr about the warranty disappearing from the dell page (where you punch in your service tag to view warranty info). **Your warranty is not supposed to be affected by having replacements sent to you or missing the 10day review deadline. At least that's what the lvl2 supe told me. Shame on him for lying/shame on Dell for messing with me.**
