Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question, and it probably is. But for some reason when I download the catalyst drivers from ATI for my m17xr3 with 6970m and I try to install it says my hardware is not supported. I checked the switchable graphics as well to ensure that they were set to the 6970m. Not sure what else to do?

Just read that it's probably not a good idea to do this anyway. I will just stick with the Dell updates.

ah, I figured it out. If you have the 1.1 mb installer that automatically detects your hardware it won't work. If you download the full 83 mb file it will.

actually not it wont....it looks as if it works but it doesnt actually update any drivers..this is because dell customized the hardware ID to something that is not on the reference inf file.....hopefully wither ati will update the later version of the driver to include or dell will provide a flash to the vbios to change the hardware ID..... there are other ways to MAKE it work...but jsut running the setup wont work until one of these things happens......or look for custom inf files....these exist all over the place...
