His proc is reporting 2.6GHz because his bus speed is only 200Mhz even with a 13.0 Multiplier thats 200Mhz x 13 = 2.6Ghz. CPU-Z 1.42 is reporting his proc incorrectly as well.

i nearly passed out when i saw this until i realised he lowered the fsb, i can book at 12.5 but it locks windows when you try to launch anything, might wait for the thermal paste to cure slightly more, seems to have helped me get slightly higher clocks as it cures

is it suppose to run faster when you decrease the fsb. Since when I try out a game it runs very fast than when i try to keep the fsb where it is like 3.2 GHz

    That's when i go into bios , seeting 14.5x 900 mem 900 fsb
Bios its 3.3 GHz, and in windows

Control panel and Dxdiag = 3.8~3.9

I haven't tried stock yet? How do i do that, just go into bios and set everything to default?

Well i wont be back until monday since its holiday

thats to low. write down your settings and go into the bios and set it to deflaut and go it

caution make sure you are raided 0 unless you will get a bluescreen. i would recommend you to set the mulitiplier, the fsb ram yourself to defaults.

    i agree with Dond

that score is very low at stock the qx9300 should score 13500, max it out and over 16k plus with some skill and tweaking not to mention luck

reset everything to default and go again

What is normally the default settings, or is each computer different?
Aldo what are the cons and pros of reducing memory clock under overclocking settings.

there isn't really a con except you won't have a performance increase. also you are at 2.9ghz bcause your fsb is to low it seems.

But if you decreased mem and raised fsb, wouldnt that increase the performance even more?

If you can figure out how to get the FSB:Mem to 1:1 you'd make me very happy. Setting it at 1:2 has been our best performance up to now.

I m getting 2.93 showing in the bios but Vista shows 2.80 using:

    x10.5
    FSB 1120

I have no idea as to why., adjusting the FSB does not show the true clock. in windows?

lowering your fsb is going to slow your whole computer down, something i learned recently it is better to up your fsb as far as possible when oc'ing as it speeds the whole computer up not just the cpu like the multiplier does for example

    Stock fsb 1066 cpu multi @ 11.5 = 3.06 max 3dmark score was 15.9k

OC'd FSB 1295 cpu multi @ default 9.5 = 3.06(according to bios, ntune reports it at 3.08) max 3dmark score went up to almost 16.7k.

my gpu right now is what seems to be keeping me from breaking the 17k barrier as i cannot oc my cpu any further or i get BSOD's. Need to be able to up the voltages.

bios is correct, windows is wrong. if you use nvidia system tools mainly ntune it will show the true clock as well correctly. Windows seems to only report the cpu multi settings which at 10.5 would be 2.8

Well, I got the M17X up to 3.02 (I think) using:

    x10.5
    FSB 1145

    CPU-Z shows 3.02
    Vista shows 2.80
    Bios shows 2.93

I blieve CPU-Z reading is correct., Nvida performance tools also show 3.02.

    3DMark06 score 15684

the bios will only show in increments so the next step after 2.93 will be 3.06 so it will not show until you get closer to that

just set your cpu multiplier back to 9.5 and set your fsb to 1290, this should take and be stable at 3.06. You have the same specs as i do and that is my stable speeds, of course ever cpu is different. There is also the possibility yours may not like the 1290 fsb setting and not boot w hich in that case you would have to take the battery out and get to the cmos batter and pull it out and put back in after 5 seconds or so to reset the bios.

i'm not sure exactly as i have not had to get to it, but when you take the laptop battery out, then you take the bottom of the laptop apart and i believe the cmos battery will be right there, someone else may be able to answer that for you more accurately than i

no vista and win 7 reports mine at 2.53 because i'm using the default cpu multiplier and just fsb pumping. bios read 3.06, nvidia system tools reads 3.065 currently. Don't worry about what windows says.

All I did was bump the multiplier to 11.5 from 9.5. That is 3.06 and is prime stable. My bios shows 3.06, but I believe I don't see it in cpuz. Windows Vista shows 2.53 also. Is this happening to anyone else?

before i had my multi at 11.5 also and windows showed the correct reading but i dropped the multi back to default and pumped the FSB up to 3.06 as it speeds up the whole system not just the cpu thus improving my benchmark score by about 1k above what my max was when the cpu was clocked at just the same speed.

    That's normal for vista.

I cant get stable at this setting, I have tried everything, only 2.80 is stable at 10.5  crashes at 11 and above.
