My best is 19862 for 3d mark 06 and 14944 for vantage. Can someone tell me how better to chase these magic fun numbers? :D

Overclock your CPU/GPU's. Both have a bit of headroom.

There's a thread dedicated to this. You probably won't hit 19K Vantage, but it is possible with your setup. A select few have. DR650 and Joker to name a couple. Both your GPUs and CPU must be heavily overclocked. A program called ThrottleStop from Unclewebb is a must. Just search for the overclocking thread. If you click on the link in my signature, you can see what kind of OC I was running, and I think I'm in fourth place on the Wiki.

I hit 18345 in Vantage with both my 5870's at 900/[email protected] and my CPU is 5% +75v in BIOS
    Throttlestop- TDP/TDC 90/75

by setting your 5870's to 800/1100 and pushing up the 920xm a little you can get to 16k in vantage <-- edit. at those speeds my system still has plenty of room. the GPU's hit about 80c. I am going to do the mod for the GPU and repaste my CPU so hopefully i can run at that speed normally.

19k however is not a normal everyday setup. its for benching only. a normal system would fry itself in matter of months at those speeds.
check out the overclock speeds of the people that have reached even 18k.

How can a 920xm overclocked a little and also the 5870's pushed up only get 16k. I can get 15,800 3dmark06 with my 820qm and 5870's stock.. From what i have read of others with 920/940xm that 18-19k is possible running stock with no overclocking and then overclocked should bring the score into the 20k+ mark. Correct me if i'm wrong anyone ?

I think he was talking Vantage scores and you are talking 3dmark06.

I defintaly recommend checking out the benchmarking thread. 19K Vantage is extremely difficult to achieve. It requires excessive cooling, GPU/CPU clock tuning, and tuning the operating system as well. You ride the limit of the PSU and must suffer tons of BSOD. Before I fried my benchmarking SSD, I had, according to Crystal Disk Info, over 1200+ "unsafe shutdowns" aka BSOD, and only 150 hours on the drive. All testing various settings. But you really push the system.

I'm excited for my system to be fixed, than you'll see me on top of the 3DMark06 benchmarking list as well :D.

Also several of us benchmarkers have certain tweaks we like to use, but it comes down to cooling as well. you must keep the system under the throttling limits which is extremely difficut with the XM CPU and increased TDP/FSB/multiplies. Its a balance between raising TDP and OCing, so that you can achieve maximum results, but not throttling. Throttling will kill your scores. big time.

i was referring to vantage not 3dmark06.

Damn DR650 that is some serious dedication!! but the score is insane. going to try the mods and see if i can get near 18k, not game to push anywhere near 19k.

I can see you doing your benchies in the shed outside in the cold for maximum ambient temps..

I'm totally with DR here.. the setup I had for getting a 19k score was quite tedious, and I had to have external cooling in order to get the desired result. The amount of BSOD's I got may not have been as high as DR's, but they were still plentyful. I'm actually extremely scared to benchmark anymore as I've been having some computer problems recently (but fixed now).

I would say only start Benching if you fully know what you are doing, or you may end up burning your system out eventually. Warranty will cover it for the *most part*, but if you've upgraded a part in your computer like mine, then you'll be a bit more cautious as it's not covered by warranty.

At the end of the day, if you do go about it, give it a twirl once you're confident, and I'll be happy to put your score's up on the official thread. We've had a lack of high score's for some time now.

    Best of luck.
